Cochineal Storm [PDH]

I wanted to try to make Ruby Storm in Pauper EDH. This is my take on that. I forgot that Grinning Ignus was originally printed at common and not uncommon. While it is legal as a commander in the format, this now feels awkward. I'll mess around with this one and see whether I keep it or turn it into something else.

Changed Mountains to Snow-Covered Mountains for Thermopod (technically, I'm too lazy to pull the snow lands from my regular EDH decks, so we're actually split 25/9 between snow and non-snow at the moment, but that will change).

Added sticker sheet deck for the Unfinity goblin. I'd forgotten to bring any the first time I played this deck!

In this deck's first game it landed a big turn with Empty the Warrens for 16 goblin tokens. I didn't know which opponent to focus, and ended up either in a kingmaker position or possibly just choosing wrong. Killed one opponent, but the other bought time with Prismatic Strands and flew over my army for lethal commander damage before I could finish him off. Storming off into Empty the Warrens worked well, even if I ultimately lost the game.

Played this deck twice last night. I was curious to see how well it held up without drawing into Empty the Warrens. The first game went really poorly. I stormed off and cast Galvanic Relay with six copies and the original, but whiffed on that. I kept taking damage and stalled out. In the end, I was able to cast Fireball with thirteen mana floating, but one opponent was down to 5 life and the other was down to 7 life. I could split Fireball at X=11, but that wouldn't kill the guy at 7 life. Because he'd been winning all night, I kingmade the other player and shot the full force of the 12-point Fireball at my friend with 7 life. The other player finished me off.

That was going to be it, but three players wanted to stick around for one final game as I was packing up, and I couldn't resist the temptation to join them, despite the late hour. This time I stormed off with Empty the Warrens again. I took a beating from flying attackers, but managed to generate enough mana for a 13-point Rolling Thunder, finishing off two opponents and leaving the third with no creatures. My goblin tokens closed it out in this deck's first ever actual victory.

By fate of a die roll, this was the first deck I played last night. I kept an opening hand that could make a lot of mana, but didn't have any payoffs. Well, I didn't draw any. It was the "wrong half of the deck" problem. After falling behind all game, I managed to cast Galvanic Relay for 17 copies. In a late game situation like that, it's the worst storm spell I can use, because I fail to build my board state while storming off, and get nothing to show for my storm turn, since the cards from Galvanic Relay can't be played until my next turn, which of course never arrived. I was attacked for lethal damage to stop me from being able to play the 17 cards I'd exiled off the top.
