If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?

How 'bout this one?
Is it okay to yell, "Movie!" in a crowded Firehouse?

Of course it does, do you think the laws of nature are only for our benefit?

When is a firehouse crowded?

Quest. 1: yes. The deer it falls on makes a sort of squishy sound.

Quest. 2: no. All of the firemen would run out to the theater, and then where would we be if there was a fire?

No.

Sound does not exist until the vibrations in the air come into contact with our eardrums and then are interperated as sound by our brains.

Until then, they are only air molocules bouncing against each other.

Betcha' didn't know THAT!

It depends on the definition of sound. If sounds are the waves, then yes it does. But if sound is the perception of those waves by an organism, then no, unless there are other creatures present.
