The first group is the original call to arms of the CPA and all the replies to it. The second one is Kevin Chen's article slapping us around. I thought it was interesting that the last post in that section is an article I've never seen before and Mr. Chen is quite nasty in it.

Maybe someone should email him and ask him to join up. :)

the good 'ol days...

I think I pointed someone in that direction sometime last year; they wanted to know the history of the CPA or something like that...

I remember oh so well (the second reply was actually from me !!)

At the time I didnt join ' cause I found the CPA was too "radical" oh well, I joined a few month later when the DOJO started its decline, and never regreted it !

Long live the CPA !

Reading that brings back memories and surprises the hell out of me! Anyway, Waylay is where all this began, people. And oh boy, am I glad it happened. This is a great place to go and I don't have to suffer through tons of tournament reports and where someone doesn't laugh at you for trying to break About Face.

By the way, it's good to hear that you're back, Baron. Missed ya, Mr. Cold'n'Pasty. ;)

Naturally, I don't remember any of the "Good Ol' Days," since I haven't been here for that long.

I'm going to e-mail WotC and ask if this group has ever acctually influenced any ruling, banning, erata or card created.

If the reply is yes, then we can "break out the bottles" as Mr. Chen suggests.

(I'm really just going to do it because I want to see what the reply is. Killed the cat, huh?)

Would WotC actually admit if we had any influence over them? I'd like to think we've at least provided a place where they can look for clues as to how the Magic-playing populace thinks.

But now that I think about it, lately, hasn't the card mix been getting more ... well ... casual?

Gold cards, Serra and Shivan are back. Coincidence?

Depending on who you talked to at WOTC, that person might or might not admit that we "influenced" them.

But let's face it, we have maybe 100 (and that's probably generous) people who have made their opinions known. Here. And there are at least four other websites that they can look at and get opinions. And who knows the ratio of casual-oriented to pro-oriented people on those? So yeah, in the grand scheme of things, they probably took our opinions and meshed them with everyone else out there. So we might have accounted for maybe 5% of total influence...

When 7th comes out and I see people here using Shivan Dragon and the like in their decklists, then I can agree that WE'VE made a tiny change in sets. But since I don't even see them in Type 1 decklists, or formats where they CAN be used, is having Shivan REALLY a big deal?

They're trying to appeal to us casual players by reprinting cards that a) they think we want and b) will sell well among people who would be buying basic sets a lot. Serra & Co. coming back is a marketing ploy, and so is the "casual" mindset of Invasion (when it isn't any better; most of it just sucks).

BTW, is Ura Kevin Chen?????? From the sound of that post it seems that was what he was implying.

Awww, now I'm being talked about and having all my secrets and stuff revealed....I almost feel naked or something. ;)

But really all I wanted was to get Baron to check his pm's so we could complete a trade he made an offer to me about. :)

Which conspiracy though, there are so many of them up here at times. ;)
