Are you busting on the name or the idea (or both)? The name is probably tongue-in-cheek... and I think it's a good idea.

While I think the idea of having more women playing Magic is a good thing, I can't support the Charm School. To me, it just seems as if they are attempting to segregate themselves from the rest of the Magic community, which is the complete opposite of what they say they want.

So if women have an invitational and a mailing list, what's to stop some of these:

The Afro-American Invitational
Y!Club - Ertai's Quadrapalegic Magic Forum
Cabal Retirement (no one under 65 admitted)
The Blind Player's Alliance

The idea should be inclusion into the entire magic community instead of self-segregation that only leads to pulling people apart.

Who cares if they have those? And so what if they do? Does it really matter?

Charm School is not hurting anyone particularly male. For all I know, they could be having their own "Hunky Art" vote or "Best (Male) Celebrity You'd Like to Go Out With" (which the CPA has the female versions in the CPA Voting forum).

Personally, I think if you're for inclusion for all sexes in Magic, you probably be better against such sexist topics initiated by the male gender. :rolleyes:

I wasn't trying to start a controversy.
I just thought it would be nice for Girls to meet
other Girl Players.

I, in fact, am against Gender divisions in Magic.
None of it really matters to Me anyway, as I'm not interested in organized play.

I just thought it was kind'a neat, and a few of the Ladys here might find it interesting.

Really, I don't have anything against the Charm School. It might be the same reason why I didn't join this place until recently: The belief that people are militant about their beliefs and are not open-minded. This, obviously, isn't the case, considering how many people here play competitively.

I belong to the Charm School, a group of female Star Wars fans called Star Wars Chicks, and a group for female Weird Al obsessees called the Al-Gals.

For each of these groups, I belong to a non-exclusive (actually, SWC isn't exclusive at all, there are lots of guys there) group devoted to the same topic.. it's just fun to talk about things we don't want the guys to hear.. [me]snickers[/me] ;) j/k
