ok. I posted maybe a month ago an idea to use enduring ideal with the replenish decks and caustic tar..

probably got buried but now i have a decklist for critique.

4 Careful Study
4 Ideas Unbound
4 Frantic Search
2 Attunement

4 Caustic Tar
3 Island Sactuary
2 Form of the Dragon
2 Opalescense
2 Pandemonium
2 Priveledged Position

4 Replenish
3 Mystical Tutor
2 Enduring Ideal
2 Planar Birth

4 Tundras
etc,etc....

In this one i dropped the saproling burst since a heavy costing opal'd creature would be the tar anyhow..
I also kept in a couple planar birth to potentially get some uber fast mana, tutoring for planar if need be.
I also took out enlightened tutor as the only one id really be tutoring for might be attunement or sanctuary..

any thoughts?

You want my opinion? Really? Here it comes:

First of all, I hate Replenish. It's a silly, overpowered card which will cause a deck to do either on of two things: Be ridiculously good or Do absolutely nothing. This is solely dependent on the kind (if any) of graveyard-destruction your opponents are playing.
Even when facing multiple opponents, if none of them are packing graveyard-destruction Replenish will give you an insane advantage. Combined with Attunement and Compulsive Research, it's insane.
If one of your opponents plays an Leyline of the Void, a Withered Wretch and some enchantment removal, your deck keels over and dies.

On to Caustic Tar: I like this card, but think it should be put in a deck with at least some cards which say "untap target land". The untapping of the land will get you to 6 mana and allow you to do some real damage per turn. Without such effects, three life loss per turn isn't really a very impressive clock and a lot of the rest of the deck must be about keeping you alive long enough for the Tar to do its work.

Lastly, Enduring Ideal. If you are playing EI, do you really need to get a Caustic Tar. Isn't Form of the Dragon enough? Or just the Pandemonium + Saproling Burst combo?

hmm. well i think the problem with most replenish decks is that they require a deck full of enchantments to have a huge effect.. if they had only 2 enchantments in the grave, their toast.. and also need either opal or pandemonium to win.

i thought the original replenish decks with tide and such to be really dumb. You saw it coming from a mile away, and you couldnt really protect your attacking enchantments.
And also would the graveyard removal apply to reanimator decks as well?
a turn 1 island, compulsive, discarding 2 fatties, turn 2 swamp, exhume..
The idea of being able to abuse the Draw2discard2, draw3discard3 was enticing.

I'm actually trying to start out with a enchantment or two that saves you, right now im running island sanctuary. Possibly doubling it up with mystic decree to lock out all attackers.
Other possibilities were solitary confinement, propanganda, or ghostly prison.. i could technically just get a form+caustic and most likely be ok. Or combo with like convalescent care+solitary confinement to keep the lock.

If i could make a deck that abused caustic, it would have to be one that searched out or returned multiple into play for free. If i could fit untapping elements into there, i would.
I think that would be a B/U deck with psychic venom, seizures, stinging licid and....

hmmm
that might be a fun one to try..especially with the gigagigagigagigadrowse.

with with a deck that could easily cast tar, tar itself wouldnt be worth it, or all that effective.. they cost 6, and if i can play that much black mana.. i can probably find better alternatives..

the enduring is only in there cause it could work in this deck..
a deck that brings out a worship+opalescence+priveledged+priveledged could pretty much hurt lots of decks.

i also wanted to try some goofy things like, opal+worship, so the animated creature is the worship :D

the pandemonium and burst is actually replaced by tar+pandemonium.. it would do the same thing, and you could tap it for 3 life loss immediately, or depending on the order, deal a bunch of damage and do it next turn.

ive also found decks that run on the idea of complete overkill tend to work the best..
either overkill the same idea, or have 1 main direction and protect the hell outta it..

i have a creatureless white control deck that shuts down even the fastest aggro decks that attack for 5-7 on turn 2.

maybe ill try to run more white+blue control enchantments. Maybe like multiple landstills, hehe. cast 1 spell, ill draw 12 :D

That looks pretty good. I'm used to seeing Parallax Wave/Tide in decklists like that, but they aren't completely necessary. How does it run? Have you tried Frantic Search and Windfall?

Oki.. it's an easey deck to play

Once you got 3 lands in play.. cast Attunement
Then draw as many cards as you can.. trow youre big Enchant's in the graveyard.

If you never draw an Attunment play one Traumatize and mill 50% of youre deck. cast Replenish to bring all youre enchant's to play and kill youre opponent with big bad enchantment's/creatures
Opalescence makes the encant's to creatures, Mass Hysteria gives the enchant's haste.. So if you play Replenish you winn the game

I play with 3 Decree of Justice mostly just for funn.. Since i got 4 Mirari’s Wake in the deck and can make alot of angels :D

Frantic Search and Windfall.. nope.. but Windfall can be funn
