Casual Tactics and Mad Dog Rant to discontinue

Yeah, after "Playing With Fire and Ice" and "YOU Need to Revive Our Community", the Casual Tactics and Mad Dog Rant articles will discontinue here at CPA.

Well, I guess the only way to write more issues articles isn't in trying an invisible string around my finger. Oh, I'm still gonna write issues and decks to give back to the community for my cheating crimes. However, the reminder I need would definitely be served by a hard deadline...a direct responsibility to write an article per week. That responsibility comes with being a featured writer at PlayorDraw.com

The reason I'm writing this post is to let y'all know that I am in no way turning my back on the CPA. I will still write here, with Team M94, Killing Time, and...Fast Effect!

It's only the decks and issues articles that are moving. And in that, they'll likely change names. So I'm off to play in the same network as Alpha Lackey (one of the best Magic writers out there currently) and serve the sister site to...Brainburst. Yes, I know, an irony indeed.

The comics and humor are coming...

Thanks for writing for us as much as you have.

Out of curiousity, are there any benefits to being a preferred writer at PlayOrDraw?

Spidey~ Hey, you're welcome...I think (you like my stuff??? jk). I am still writing here, humor though (the comics were always my thing here anyway). I think there are benefits, but I'm still in the process of seeing. I already submitted my first article there, but I dunno what the time process and all is. Still talking with their head guy.

train~ I second Spidey in asking that. If they asked, why didn't ya go for it? Plus who else do you know they asked?

I didn't know if you had/got an arrangement like being a StarCity feature writer, for example (product, monetary, whatever).

They say they pay in money. Not much, but I'm hoping to use it to fund a little contest here and there (let it never be said Sefro is not greedy...he's a jerk, but not a greedy one -Mad Dog). Of course, if this whole deal works out, I'm definitely keeping money for myself and getting some extra essentials for daily living (those free ketchup packets at McD's are wonderful!) in addition to funding contests. However, it'll mean my contests will have better prizes than leftover Unglued cards and MTGO Torment Duals. :D

Got a link so should post it up later today...

What kind of Magic site is PlayorDraw? Casual-oriented, tourney-oriented, both? Lot of people there?

It is a mix of casual and tourney. Though it is a sister site to Brainburst, it is more or less like the way Star City Games used to be (since nowadays it is turning into an elitist wannabe-Brainburst site). Oh, the irony.

As for the crowd there...I dunno. I signed up for the forums there but have yet to actually visit them.

It's not that I haven't taken a spot, or tried writing yet - I sent in an article, and am editing it now with suggestions...

As SeFRo could attest to - I'm just a little wary about the "legal" statement they made in the initial correspondence...

however - the letter from the editor I received didn't mention any legal bit - so I don't have a problem mentioning an article has been looked at, and is now in editing phases...

I will say that the site is open to casual arenas in more ways than MTG.com seems to be... They even have forums similar to this one that delve into them... but I'm a member of these forums only... and the ones for school of course...

Maybe articles of mine will see e-print... maybe not...

Hey SeFRo - any word on when your first will be up? have oyu submitted one?...

I don't remember any legal notice in the emails except for the standard "internal/private communication" notice at the tail of the head honcho's emails.

Other than that, I asked about exclusivity of writing and they answered as I thought: They want their featured writers to be exclusive. Though it was figured that the issue rants and casual decks would be the exclusive content, while the comics and humor I could send anywhere I wanted to (and obviously I chose CPA!)

My memory is a horrible one, though. Was there a different legal thing you were told of, Train?

As for articles, yeah--the first one is up now. Thanks much to Spidey for posting the link! :D One article is being edited and another I just sent in. So, watch for more stuff in a short period of time.

Now, to work on those Killing Time and Fast Effect ideas...

Yeah, the analysis pie chart and all is put in automatically. Been a feature of brainburst for a while and I guess they just transferred over the software to the sister site to do the same thing. Is really nice, I think. Also cool how they put links to all the cards when they're named.

Though, the links must be a pain for the editor with my review articles. Each one lists a slew of cards, some of them pretty old and/or obscure. :D

Well, looks like I finally am getting around to writing the final Mad Dog Rant. It will spawn a new column, though. A semi-issues column. Stay tuned, as my capping off MDR was not forgotten. Just delayed and put off in my usual procrastination habits.

I would think most of those are linked by an engine that searches for them and turns them into links...

If they're doing it by hand, they got problems...

I didn't see the question answered - but they did offer payment... basically e-money... but if needed it was real... (that's what I got out of it...)

I think there's an engine, too, but listing so many obscure cards probably messes with it. I see it happen from time to time, where it takes a name of another card contained within the card you're writing about.

By the way, did you article pop up? If it was posted, I seem to have overlooked the links.
