casual Orb deck

I need some help with my casual Mesmeric Orb deck. Windborn
Muse and Propaganda help slow down the attack. Mana Web
sort of taps them out.

I need about 12 more cards to fill out the deck. Other idea's
are welcome too.

3 Mana Web
1 Sol Ring

4 Mana Leak
4 Force Spike
4 Propaganda
4 Aether Burst

10 Island
10 Plains
3 Flooded Strand
1 Tolarian Academy




Mesmeric Orb

Color= Artifact
Type= Artifact
Cost= 2 MR(R)
Text (MR): Whenever a permanent becomes untapped,
that permanent's controller puts the top card of
his or her library into his or her graveyard.

Is your intention to get your opponent to put "lots" of cards in the graveyard via the Orb? Else I'd suggest Winter Orb.

Probably need some removal. StP or something.

My guess is that it's a mill deck... else keeping them tapped is as easy as static orb...

you are correct...,
Cards like winter Orb and Static Orb can semi-lock them down
but I'd rather they tap stuff so they have to untap.

Mana Web is just in the deck to force an opponent to tap down
more lands which should equal more stuff going to the grave.

trains, SoT suggestion sounds interesting.

Would a Storage Matrix also force a mill?

What if nothing is tapped? Opponent has nothing tapped but
must choose something to untap. (artifacts, creatures or lands)



Its basically a mill deck.

Storage Matrix would do the propaganda bit - but for tappable permanents....

Here are some options...

Deluge: Tap all creatures without flying

Breaking wave: You may play ~this~ any time you could play an instant if you pay {2} more to play it. ; Simultaneously untap all tapped creatures and tap all untapped creatures.

Ensnare
Color= Blue Type= Instant Cost= 3U NE(U)
Text (NE+errata): You may return two Islands you control to their owner's hand rather than pay ~this~'s mana cost. ; Tap all creatures. [Oracle 2003/07/01]

Faces of the Past
Color= Blue Type= Enchantment Cost= 2U SC(R)
Text (SC): Whenever a creature is put into a graveyard from play, tap or untap all creatures that share a creature type with it.


Gulf Squid
Color= Blue Type= Creature - Beast Cost= 3U PY(C)
Text (PY): 2/2. ; When ~this~ comes into play, tap all lands target player controls

Mana Short
Color= Blue Type= Instant Cost= 2U
Text (7th): Tap all lands target player controls and empty his or her mana pool.

Power Sink
Color= Blue Type= Instant Cost= XU
Text (6th+errata): Counter target spell unless its controller pays {X}. If he or she doesn't, that player taps all lands he or she controls and empties his or her mana pool. [Oracle 2000/10/24]

Turnabout
Color= Blue Type= Instant Cost= 2UU US(U)
Text (US): Tap or untap all artifacts, creatures, or lands target player controls.

I personally like the power sink, turnabout, mana short, and gulf squid...

Mana short would let you play stuff for "free"... powersink is more of a guarantee than force spike and mana leak... and turnabout hits everything...

Temporal distortion might also be interesting...


To make this less stressful on your deck though(milling yourself) you need to run 4 dream halls and play all this stuff for free...:eek: :eek: :eek: :D

I'm all about adding four Compulsion to this deck, as it basically does nothing until you find your combo.

I knew this would come...........


I'd like to thank you guy's for help me alone all this time. At some
point we all reach a point where some stuff must be put on the
back burner. I'm not trying to suggest I'm quiting the game I
just have a lot of work and home related stuff that needs my
undivided attention. I should have waiting a while long before
starting these threads. My visit will slow down over the next few
months but I'm still here, Home. ;)

work out trade. I'll have some time in between home and
work to check CPA and email, some....
