A lot of perfectly good creatures have been missed off here:

Viashino Sandstalker
Brothers Of Fire

just for starters...

And a couple of spells:
Spellshock
Nevinyrral`s Disk (from the original Sligh listing)

And Dan Paskins should be on the list of players.

I'm not too familiar with the players, but here are my other votes for the best of the best...

Creatures:
Ball Lightning - 6 damage for 3 mana. Maybe a little bit less. Can't beat it.
Mogg Fanatic - You WILL take one damage minimum from this creature. Or it's a 2/1. NO drawbacks.

Spells:
Lightning Bolt - 3 damage for 1 mana. Simple, easy, direct, nasty.
Fireblast - Incinerate nearly pushed this one aside, but the potential of 4 damage for NO mana is too good. Comboes extremely well with Fork, and can often be used to push that final damage through a turn earlier.
