I just wanted to thank you all for posting all your crap in the Off Topic sub-forum. Except, of course, the alyssa milano photo sexy beauty mature redhead oral surgery programs post, which was properly placed in the Casual Decks section.

Notice that the spam only got crazy when Spiderman wasn't here -- therefore, he must be the spammer!

Only this past weekend from what I can tell... it must have been one of you guys drunk-spamming!

It's actually just that Spiderman is here so much, he probably catches the spam before you have a chance to see it. Not now, but a while back, I had some school or work schedule that caused me to tend to check in at what must have been exactly the right time of day for me to see the spam after the spammer posted it (apparently they tended to strike during certain hours), but before Spiderman had a chance to catch it.

Well, there hadn't been any spam for a while right up to when I left, and then it seems like the spam just exploded the Saturday or weekend right before I got back. So either the CAPTCHA isn't working for new registrations or people are actually spending their time doing the CAPTCHA *and* clicking the email verification link so they can get on.

Here's something I heard as an IT security professional which you can take or leave as far as captcha goes...

The fraudsters have made a science out of getting past it - and one method is for them to do a screen sweep of it - then show it to a 'customer' who enters it as verification for getting free porn. All done electronically within seconds. So, captcha just doesn't work as a security paradigm. that's not to say we have that going on here... I just found it hilarious how ingenious they are at avoiding security measures.

Well, I put some actual Magic questions as part of the application process and those that didn't require numbers seem to be working; those that did, the spammers seemed to still get so I changed them. So we've been pretty much spam-free since then...

I noticed that when I had to reset my email and password... Had to think for a bit on it too. :)

 Oh no! All my access to free porn has inadvertently been helping the scammers. Sorry, guys.

If I wanted to look at naked midgets in furry suits, I'd watch Return of the Jedi.

Which I do.

I meant that I watch Return of the Jedi, not that I want to look at naked midgets in furry suits. In retrospect, I probably could have worded that better.
