Anyone know anything about Dyson vacuums?

This may seem a bit odd, but anyone have any experience with Dyson vacuums? They're one of the most expensive vacuums out there but wondering if the price is worth it (before I go try searching for reviews on the Net).

But we bought a Rainbow Vaccuum several years ago and the best part about it is that the dust level in our house has been down to a bare minimum. The only draw back is that it has a main piece that with rollers and looks like the head from the robot in the old TV show "Lost in Space" and a long hose attaches to it with the metal tube and the spinning brush part being kind of lunky, um, er,....clunky?

My wife hates it, I like it so I get to vaccuum the house.....all the time

Now I HAVE heard of a Dysonsphere,.....in Star Trek :p

Good. That is correct. Dyson spheres are not real. I am not building one as we speak. In fact, the very idea is laughable. Now then...

No one could possibly, and I mean ever in the future history of recorded time, could anyone harness the power of a star in a consealed sphere. Right?

I dunno. To me, it just seems like if you had technology so advanced that it would be practical to build a Dyson sphere, then there would be other things you could do that would be more efficient. Then again, I don't know very much about physics, so I could be horribly misinformed...

While this may be true, the simple fact of the matter is, that with great advances, comes an even greater lust of power. Man will eventually do himself in, no matter what nature tries to do to stop him!

Well, even if your theory is dead-on, it doesn't really tell us whether or not a Dyson sphere would ever be created...

Well...even if it is created, I believe that the invention of Transparant Aluminum would be first.

To answer the original question, i have never heard of a Dyson Vaccum, and personally I cannot see clear to spending more than $100 on a vaccum. Unless of course, you have a serious health issue that would necessitate purchasing one.

Well, I guess it all depends on how much value you place on a good vaccum cleaner. I don't have any carpeting (I have grown quite accustomed to my tiled floor, and will probably loath having a carpet when I move somewhere with one) and I don't have very much money either. Now, if I were earning piles of cash as the administrator of the Casual Players Alliance, forking some chump change over for a superior vaccum might be quite feasible... :p

Ooo, back on the subject ;)

Well, the reasons is because we've spent lots of money on vacuums in the past 6 or so years, (probably around 3) that cost roughly $100 each, but they're not lasting (losing suction, damaged, etc). And we have four cats. So as I keep seeing the Dyson commercials on TV, I'm wondering if they're as good as they claim they are.

If I was earning piles of cash too, I'd just hire a maid or housecleaner rather than worry about doing it myself :)

I find that the Rainbow is excellent as a direct result of it trapping the dust and such in a pool of water rather than a filter, a lot less dust in the air after using it and it's not messy when emptying out the water.

and,.......AH-HA! You told us something about yourself in your post that answers the question of what kind of decks you like to play. Cats are definitely a control players choice of animal. I have one myself named "Boo", he's a Fat Orange Tabby (I like my cats fat). His very nature is reserved and only stikes when neccessary, like me :D.

...and he's a bit of a clown, too. (Tiny head, though)

No, according to the commercials, it just has "super-suction" (nearly 10 times the fight of gravity!)

Heh, yeah, I guess I like to play control. My Manabarbs control deck is my favorite and I like playing train's control deck. It's kinda like that when I play wargames too - I like having "control" and overwhelming forces :)

According to my in-laws it is a great vacuum... but we got their previous hoover one donated to us, so we didn't bother looking into buying one... been using the one they donated for the last 5 years... ;)

"probably time to change the bag..."

They have one and they love it... and trust me, there is dust in their house... they got it not too long ago... maybe last fall...

Hasn't broken down, and best she can tell it picks everything up... She was told to try a salt test or something by pouring stuff on the carpet to see if it really picks it up, but she views that as nonsense and just uses it for everyday dirt...

They don't have any indoor pets, so I'm not sure how it would do in that instance...

I guess we technically got their old old one, not sure what they did with this previous one before they got the dyson...

Yeah, Dyson has one marketed to pet owners to pick up the hair... maybe we'll get one when our current one definitely breaks down.

Well - hopefully it works as marketed for you... let me know how it goes... now that we have a basset hound, we've noticed a bit more hair around the house... ;)

"that dyson's really going to SUCK...."

Sorry... couldn't help myself...

The Dyson Vacuum Line is probably one of the best out there!

We have the yellow one that came with a hefty pricetag of $400

It really does suck.....really well in fact

we have never had a problem and I do believe it is worth the money

Hey Tabasco... yeah, I'm hoping for the price it's good at what it does :) I'm gonna check their website, but I'm trying to figure out the difference between the yellow (regular?) and the purple (pet?) since the latter costs $100 more. But just by looking at them in the store, they seem the same...
