fuzzy510, MrClueless (he was on for about a week in April), and I have been working on an RPG for computer class for most of this year.
I am proud to say that we've done a good chunk of it, about 40-60%.

Of course, that doesn't sound so good when you know that it's due Friday.

But, just in case we finish, and haven't committed suicide, is anyone interested in playing a copy?

Details will follow if you show interest. I would greatly appreciate it if you would pretend to show interest.

(P.S.: Just in case some might be scared away by the fact that fuzzy made it, let me stress that he did little of the work. I did most of the creative work, which probably isn't much better, but oh well.)

...a question: is the RPG like a computer game...or something like Rando's game?

He told me it was a computer game that had something to do with demonic safety cones and sweat socks.

Yes, a computer game, and a very bad one at that.

And it doesn't so much have to do with demonic safety cones and sweat socks... but it does include them.

At the beginning of the year, we were planning to make a "groundbreaking" RPG of sorts, but that fell by the wayside once we realized that we suck at making games, so we stopped being serious.

It's just a bunch of stupid jokes, dumb enemies with "demon" in their names, and bad frame coordinates (as the error message keeps telling me). Oh, and muffins.

Any takers?

...sorry. I don't really play PC games, or much of video games at all. It sounds...interesting.

I will play it if it is interesting. Send me info or whatever, ya.

Prepare for a shock and buckle down your lunch:

It's in TrueBASIC. The game is really slow.

There are some graphics, mostly bitmaps made in Paint.
The only things with graphics are the maps and the enemies.

If you still seriously want it, wait until mid to late June, when we will have enough free time to distribute it.
Of course, you might need to install TrueBASIC (I'm not sure, but I'll find out) to run it, so it might be pretty big.
When the time comes, can I somehow send it to one of the admins (Spiderman already showed some interest)? I'm not sure if E-mail would be the best way, because it might be about 10 megs (maybe).

Landkiller: It's interesting, in that it sucks. But there was a place when we took a scene from Shakespeare and replaced all the names with characters from our game (interesting in terms of how stupid it is).

Hmm, I'm not sure sending it to me or another admin is a good idea, since 10 megs is over the size of attachments we can put up.

Doesn't some members have their own site? Maybe they can host it for a while? What about zipping it, can you do that and make it smaller?

Project Update:

The game is due Friday. At this rate, there is about a 10% chance that we'll be done and get a reasonably good grade.

Of course, for this at least, a D would count as a reasonably good grade for me and fuzzy. I don't know about our partner, though (he's trying to take a good computer course next year...)

I suppose I could zip it. But I would be using WinZip, most likely, so those of you without Macs are unlucky (or lucky, depending on our point of view).

But no one should offer to put this on his/her site without playing (and inevitably cursing at) it first.

We intend that it achieve the status of cult classic, right up next to Plan Nine from Outer Space.

If someone wants to bash this game later, I would like to point out ahead of time the following:

We say, in our game, that our game "only got a bad rap because GamePro gave it a FunFactor of N/A."

So far, the people who have played it have remarked on the fact that it is boring (although only about 10% of it is playable so far).

The only reason I suggested to put it on a site is to make it accessible to everyone, since it most likely can't go here and it would be too large in email.

If, for instance, nodnarb24 put it on his site, it might scare away visitors.

I agree, it probably should be put on a site, but the person on whose site it will be put should look at it and make sure that it lives up to certain "standards of quality" (like not crashing).

We hope to make it an independent run-time application, meaning that you wouldn't need TrueBASIC. You would also be able to download it from my website (I'll give you the URL later).

Oh, by the way, I'm back.

I can host it on my website, the only thing it is good for now is saving my Computer Art and Design files so I can access them at home. :) Anyways I'm thinking of changing the site from Magic to Gaming in general and that would give me a good start.

Also if it is too big to send through e-mail, you could use [url="www.whalemail.com"Whale Mail[/url] which let's you send up to 75Mb.

The game was due today, and not a moment too soon! (wait... never mind, several billion moments too soon).

Groups of two in our class (except we were a group of three, as the class had an odd number of people) had to turn in each game by the end of the class today; if we turned it in "after the bell rings," it would be late.

We turned ours in while the bell was ringing.

We did about 30-40% of it last night, just to get through the game. However, we had to take out some stuff as a result of some time problems (MrClueless was up until 4 am).

If we want to put it up on the web, we should probably wait until we put the stuff back in (if we want to put the stuff back in).

However, it should be noted that we were able to fit the contents of the game on 3 floppy disks.

Also, no matter how much our game may seem to suck later, there were some people who didn't finish on time.
