Anyone in Georgia planning on going to...

Either of the PTQs at the war room (August 25, September 15)
to play/watch/trade, etc?

For those that don't know, the format is IBC, I'm planning on taking the U/G "Machine" deck. If anyone would help on the sideboard, it currently looks like the following pile:
3 Wash Out (Lynx, Voice of All. I hate those.)
3 Confound (mirror)
3 Jungle Barrier (Aggro)
3 Gainsay (Blue, duh.)
and brace yourself:
3 BIND! (Deeds, the decks worst/second worst enemy, after/before Lynx.)

I apologize for the binds, but bounce/tranquility doesn't really work vs Deed for 2 5'th turn. Anyway, I get to draw a card, and we all like cantrips! Right?

Also, I was thinking about writing a tournament report, if I don't go 0-2 drop (which I probably will), and was wondering about tips on writing detailed notes, because technically, you can't write down what each player played during his/her turn while the game is going on, only life totals, and # of turns, who went first, who mulliganed, and that's about it. Can you write down between games? You only get 3 minutes maximum.

Anyway, any input would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I won't be going to this one, RabidKimba. I will be going away. I don't think anyone else from Team Loser (Theorgg, Spencer, etc.) will be attending as well.

However, you may want to give them a ring if you have their numbers. If you don't, I'm sure one of them will see this thread.

I'll be absent, but I can give you some tips on reporting.

A notepad is a great thing, with a page for each match(or more, if a detailed match).

Most of the time, you can ask your opponent if he minds you noting what happened in a game, though you cannot actually note while it's in progress.

After the match, usually your opponent will take three or four minutes to help you rectify what exactly happened during the match. Later, you mostly have to go on memory of what happened to discribe your tournament games. Most people on Team Loser don't go into detail, even if imagined, but it really is important to use a paragraph or two about each match, and at least try to give some insight when wrighting on it.

Another good thing is to get your opponent's name(or be a Reward signee...) But I'd rather call my opponet "Bud Jonston" than "Buddingting Johannistain the 3rd" from before he moved from Europe...

Or ireland, as the case may be...

Ransac, you are a Georgian? I never knew you were a victim of Georgia. It isn't so bad when you live in the Atlanta/ Kennesaw/ Marietta area, but down in Macon, it sucks. I unfortunately will not be going, mainly because I didn't even know it was going on, or what it is. Please enlighten me.

Maraud - There's a Pro Tour Qualifier on the 25'th of August, and 15'th of September, the format's going to be Invasion Block Constructed. (expensive block constructed for us that don't have multiple 5-inch trade binders or amazing amounts of money.) It's down at the War Room - www.thewarroom.com

I'll be there on 8/25 and 9/15 for the PTQ's, and 9/22 for the pre-release.

Good point about the expense of this block. I counted the rares in the deck I'll probably be playing, and it was above 30! Several of these were in the $10-12 range.

While I think this probably the best block ever in terms of diversity, every deck seems chock full of expensive rares. I have found that Magic is affordable if:

1. you have a job and work all the overtime you can (this cuts down on playing time though, so it sorta defeats the purpose).
2. you have a (very) understanding spouse.
3. you spend no money whatsoever on anything else.
4. you buy Magic by the box. I hate to spend $10-12 on an Undermine or Vindicate, but I can buy boxes for $72 per from a local retailer. Still a lot of money, but I get 36 rares, 108 uncommons, several foils, etc.

Anyway, I should have lots of trade stuff for anybody that needs it. Incidentally, if anybody needs bulk commons (really) cheap, let me know, and I'll fish'em out.

I was also wondering if Sammy was taking a break or something, because he hadn't posted in Beyond Balderdash for quite a while and he was usually a consistent one...
