OK, you are a Medieval tourturer, and you need some answers lickety-split.

Which would get the info you need the quickest?

All of these are real methods of torture, actually used at some point in history.

Your missing a LOT of methods. I did a report last year for spanish on methods of torture during the Spanish Inquisition. Where's my all time favorite, the vaginal/anal/rectal pear? Where's the wheel?

Oh, I know there's lot's of 'em missing.

Where's being tied up in a box filled with rotting flesh and worms?

Where's Cruicifixtion?

Where's Glassing?

Where is my favorite, The 100 Cuts? In that one, the subject would be tied down and a sack placed next to him/her. Inside the sack are 100 knives, each labled with a body part. The torturer/exicutioner would dip in for a random knife, and then cut a way that specific part. Nasty, but never the same show twice!

The I'd have to choose thumbscrews, since all those other would take awhile. Racking would be a close 2nd. Pins under the fingernails works well, also; and removing the fingernails with pliers is a backup plan for those who insist on being difficult to work with.

Now, if I had plenty of time to get the answers, or wanted to punish as well as kill, I'd go with wheeling (which you didn't offer as a choice).

Another one, which I'm rather fond of, is using a rope, along which knots have been tied. The rope is placed around the head (just above the ears) and cinched. Slowly tightening it causes the knots to press into the skull, possibly cracking it at the contact points. After awhile, the skull will be crushed from the stress, but the "witness" will offer a great deal of valuable information (some of which may even be true) in the meantime.

Hmm, it's not really quick, but lots of fun...

Cut off all the limbs, cauterize the wounds, place the living sack of vital organs in a basket where you proceed to make evil jokes about its inability to move. Then sew its anus shut and feed it laxatives, and laugh at it further. Maybe a hearty meal of the limbs it once had.

I'd think they would die before they could reveal any important information, but it is fun nonetheless!

Pretty much agree with Chaos Turtle for all the reasons he gave...

Racking. Drawing and Wheeling are all similar in what they do to you, so I did not see any reason to put all three.

Broken on the wheel or broken on the rack, it's all still broken.

That applies to the form of wheeling in which the subject is simply stretched over the wheel rim and pulled. This would properly be know as racking, anyway, which is why wheeling is often overlooked.

One particularly cruel method of wheeling involves breaking the legs in several places, so that they can be "threaded" between the spokes of the wheel.

In some cases the wheel is rolled around with the victim stretched across the spokes in this fashion -- spread-eagle style -- in order to maximize the public's enjoyment whilst hurling insults, food, dung, mud, and what-have-you. Other times, the victim is actually on the rim of the wheel, so that he can be driven repeatedly into the ground as the wheel turns.
