The reason they closed Atlanta area schools last week(the few schools that were open) is due to the bridges around here.

Until you have to drive on a solid ice patch(and our tires are different from ya'lls-- no "snow chains' underneith them to help with traction.) over a bridge...

Sixty times...

in a half hour...

Y'don't realize how many damn bridges there are around Atlanta!

Stuff freezes here like owl *BAWK!

Orgg: Yeah, I know. My point was that in Ohio, we're unfortunate enough to be prepared for stuff like that.:)

Zhaneel: Well, don't I feel dumb.;)

Lately, my part of Colorado (the north-eastern part) has had a big snowstorm that lasts a whole night and then in the morning, the sun is back out and all the snow is melting off. That happened at least twice this winter.

And my school district never has snow days. Our district hasn't had a snow day since I was in third grade! (I'm a college freshman now).

I think everyone should be given about 5 "this sucks, I'm leaving" days where they can legally skip school or just walk out during the day. Yeah, that's it...
They have those when you go to college. Granted, you still have to pay, but it's nice to be able to say "I don't feel like going to class. I'm staying in bed."

They give you FIVE "blow-off" days (where you don't need an excuse for your absence)? When I went, my college only gave 2 or 3... the rest you needed an excuse and if you had x amount of unexcused, ya dropped letter grades or failed...
