I'm guessing it's a difference between Standard and non... It's hard to say based on just two creature-based decks as you gave in your example. In theory, every deck can be beat. Whether it's 1% of the time or 99% of the time is a different matter... I'm sure people will agree in that some...

Although I don't really play in tourneys and keep up with the deck types, I have to agree with arhar in general in that decks come and decks go. I'm sure someone out there longs for the return of Vise Age :)

Tag Guard Yeah, I remember playing in my only 1.5 tourney and my opponent did the same thing to me, cast a Mirror Universe when I was going to win in two turns. I was praying for a disenchant or shatter so bad... but no topdecking for me :(.

Tag Guard Although Channel was banned way after Black Lotus rotated out (or was even put on the restricted list), during Ice Age. It was more because it was a "staple" for most decks then which tended to be red/green (like a good 80%+ tourney decks had it in).

Tag Guard Istanbul: Yeah, such rules would require a lot of thinking to be ironed out. On the other hand, you just play for ante period. Winner of the duel gets the card. I don't know if people will play, but at least with such unambiguous terms they know what they're getting into.
