If you've been playing it "occasionally", then that shouldn't matter, should it? And like all "casual" games, you can always play unsanctioned and the way you're used to. It's only if you want to play it in a tourney when you have to worry about it.

There's some reason why they only do it to "new" or "current" cards. It's the same reason why old creature types like Cobra or Cheetah aren't being errata'd to be Snake or Cat (or Falcon to Bird).
