    Blue is bad in multiplayer

So, is the idea that blue is actually bad in multiplayer, or that monoblue is? Not to be picky, but the title of the thread uses the former, and I think it's a much less defensible position. Blue has always been a great secondary or splash color. Which is not to say that I think monoblue is bad...

Does anyone even buy the basic sets anymore

A card doesn't have to be restricted to make its impact felt. Once again, I would use Trinisphere as an example. Four of the five have made a significant impact and one of those has even been restricted. I would say that constitutes "breaking the scene." If they had all ended up on the...

    Blue is bad in multiplayer

A lot like Ferret's example, I can think of a time this really held true (although it was much more recently). I was in a three-way game and playing red-based control of some sort, I think. Anyway, one of my opponents appeared to be playing a blue deck with a red splash. He couldn't seem to get...

Does anyone even buy the basic sets anymore

I don't know if that is a fair statement. I don't think a card being restricted in Vintage is necessarily the only usable evidence for it to be broken (I've heard a lot more complaints about Trinisphere, Skullclamp, and Crucible of Worlds than the restricted Chrome Mox). Also, it might not be...

    chittering rats

It's a pretty nice little bullet. It's not the best at slowing down the opponent and as an attacker it's nothing to scream about. I had a friend who used it in block constructed and really liked it there. In formats with larger cardpools there tend to be better choices...

Does anyone even buy the basic sets anymore

Yes, Demonic Tutor is a very good card, but I don't think anyone believes that it isn't (Demonic Consultation and Vampiric Tutor are pretty powerful as well). Anyway, your last statement seems strange, since Demonic Tutor puts a card in your hand, and if being the graveyard is what you're after...
