I don't use Control Magic. I don't even use Treachery. There's no reason for a card like Persuasion... Not that Dismiss or Rewind are great either, but they're more playable...

The Pirate thing does sound fun, but I know I have very few of some of those cards. I might try them anyway though... For LD, I have the cards I suppose to try B/R or something, but I don't think I'll try that direction, since I've done it before, even though I could do better with it now...
