Retraction/Apprentice Appreciation

And so, I too, have been taken.

This week I get to lead off with a retraction, because last week I shot my mouth off without checking my facts first.

It was bound to happen eventually, everything considered.

Apparently, the card library/search engines associated with that other place are both down for everyone, not just for this CPA affiliated warrior/hack, and it was wrong for me to insinuate it was something done just to me.

My bad.

I suppose it would be a cheap shot for me to critisize them for poor maintenance practices, so I won't. Instead, I'd rather thank them for the years of providing those reference tools for all of us, free of charge. That I go there a lot and use them often should be obvious from the reaction I had to the thought that I'd been shut out.

I hope they get them fixed soon.

It isn't as vital to me right now though, since I finally got the Masques and Nemesis updates for my Apprentice to work. It seems that the file I downloaded from Dragonstar somehow got corrupted. It wouldn't extract properly from the unzipped file for some reason. I never did figure out why.

Then I met a guy through ICQ with the handle of Michael, who shot me the file using ICQ, and now I'm all set.

Hmmm. This seems like a good spot for a shameless Apprentice plug.

(Editor's Note: Apprentice can be downloaded here: http://www.dragonstudios.com/)

God, is this game fun! I don't get to play on Apprentice nearly as often as I'd like, but I always (well, almost always) have a good time. Sure, it's not as good as playing face to face is, though it's close, but that's a small trade-off considering you can find a game literally at any time. One night I found myself playing someone from Indiana. The next night I played with someone from California. You could easily find yourself in a game with anyone, from anywhere, with this incredible tool.

And it's free.

That's right, free. It's offered on a site run by dedicated Magic players who weren't looking to make a buck with it - they were only looking for a way to play the game online - and it's blossomed into an entire online community of players.

What a country.

If you love to play this game, and you don't have it, get it. And join in the fun.
