Four Casual Decks
By Robert Pittman

If its ok, I'd like to do an "occasional" front page article. [YES! PLEASE DO!] I have terrible writing skills so I will not be doing it very often. Nor, will it be very long.

Over the last two weeks I've had a lot of "fun" playing Magic. Its a great game. Why am I so happy you might ask. Well, below are four decks I've been messing around with and they are a blast to play. All of these decks are a little off beat but have provided me with opportunity to play with some of the more interesting and fun cards in the standard environment. I certainly wouldn't take them to a tournament but playing with them against my friends has been very entertaining.

This first deck looks like a pile. I've taken several cards I hardly ever play with and put them into this deck. The decklist looks rather silly but it has a lot of synergy. I wouldn't dare play this deck against well tuned Type II deck but it can be a lot of fun when your just messing around.

2 River Boa
2 Monk Idealist
2 Catern Enforcer
2 Academy Rector
2 Deranged Hermit
2 Radiant's Dragoons
2 Apprentice Necromancer
1 Undertaker
1 Spined Flute
1 Fallen Angel
1 Devout Witness
1 Ticking Gnomes
1 Uktabi Orangutan
1 Notorious Assassin
1 Thrashing Wumpus
1 Phyrexian Plaguelord
1 Pariah
1 Fecundity
1 Subversion
1 Citanul Flute
1 Seal of Doom
1 Moonlit Wake
1 Lurking Skirge
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Saploring Burst
1 Gaea's Embrace
1 Death Pit Offering
1 Midsummer Revel
1 Phyrexian Reclaimation
8 Swamp
6 Plains
6 Forest
2 High Market
2 Phyrexian Tower

The second deck is sort of a Semi-lock/Control Green thingy. The idea is to stall the game by bouncing and tapping all there land then play a fat Multani. For the longer games, I've got Storage Matrix and Ring of Gix to throw a monkey wrench into those Rebel engines. I'm not suggestion this deck is good enough to beat any teir one deck but I needed something to throw that monkey wrench into.

more Sof-loc Green
4 Blastoderm
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Multani's Acolyte
4 Birds of Paradise
2 Multani, Maro-Sorcerer
4 Ring of Gix
4 Plow Under
4 Creeping Mold
3 Fallow Earth
2 Storage Matrix
1 Crop Rotation
19 Forest
3 Rishadan Port
1 Gaea's Cradle
1 Treetop Village

The third deck is my version of the Task Force deck given to us by Crackdown. If you haven't played with this deck in one form or another, man, your missing out on a lot of FUN. My version probably isn't as good as the other ones listed under the "Abusing Task Force" thread but it doesn't play to bad.

4 Task Force
4 Mother of Runes
3 Ramosian Lieutenaunt
2 Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero
1 Cho-Manno, Revolutionary
1 Angelic Page
1 Master Healer
1 Avenger en-Dal
1 Crenellated Wall
1 Bloodshot Cyclops
1 Cho-Arrim Alchemist
4 About Face
3 Parallax Wave
2 Disenchant
2 Power Matrix
2 Ghitu War Cry
1 General's Regalia
1 Seal of Cleansing
1 Enlightened Tutor
11 Plains
8 Mountain
2 Thran Quarry
2 Ghitu Encampment
1 Tower of the Magistrate

The last deck is one of my favorite deck types, Enchantress. I just love to draw all those cards. To me its sort of a combo deck without that dirty combo feeling. One thing that might seem out of place is the Mark of Fury. The intent is to give the deck a castable enchantment every turn. One other thing it does is it gives me a surprise attacker.

4 Birds of Paradise
4 Verduran Enchantress
4 Yavimaya Enchantress
4 Argothian Enchantress
4 Rancor
4 Exploration
4 Seal of Fire
4 Fertile Ground
4 Ancestral Mask
3 Mark of Fury
9 Forest
4 Mountain
4 City of Brass
3 Karplusan Forest
1 Gaea's Cradle

Thanx for reading my very short article!
