I wanted, right off from the start, talk about one of most 'casual players' I know.
I remember when this gentle giant invited me to come and play out in Milwaukee with him and his friends. He had suggest his first "Five Color" tournament. I thought it was a great idea, since my roommate and I played alot with piles of cards similiar to that.
However, I didn't go. I had some other plans, and was unable to get my butt out there. I did get to meet up with the big man later that month and play agasint him. Needless to say, I lost.
It is unfortunate that a suspension has taken him out. But, as much as I would like to give him credit for what he did, I also have to criticize him.
Let me explain:
Mike Dove is one of those individuals who really needs a smack upside the head. Just....not at a magic tournament. Maybe a reality check.
There are a lot of people that play this game that shouldn't play because of their attitude. You won't see me smacking them though.
Kurt: Thanks, on behalf of all MTG players, for doing what you did.
Kurt: WTF were you thinking? Now, your gone bud! Damn.
My last article I wrote was on the horrible attitudes people, MTG players in specific, display. I received two e-mails regarding my article speaking about their experiences. I must say, it is quite common that players won't play because of individuals, like Mike Dove, who create havoc at local, or world wide, scenes.
It is just unfortunate that we lost the white whale.....our leader in the fight.
