Post Rotation Extended Decks: Three Deuce & Counter-Sliver
The new extended environment is comming soon! Let's review. The following sets are going to be extended legal whenever it happens (July or November?).
*Onslaught (Fall '02)
That's 18 sets; 6 Core, 10 Expansions and two Basic sets that vary about 50% of the card pool.
I used to like extended and now it seems that I'll like it even more. Don't get me wrong, I'll miss my Duals and Wills but, good riddance! I can now use those cards for my "Casual Decks" (where they belong!)
Of course, the rotation is wrecking a couple of my old favs like 3D and CS. But I'm sure it'll all be for the better. Change is good.
Well, allow me to post a possible list of Three-Deuce:

Because of the rotation this deck loses:
*Dual Lands-Plateau, Taiga and Savannah. The replacements are not good (see list above).
*Swords to Plwoshares. Vengeful Dreams is an okay replacement but the card disadvantage is rough.
*Granger Guildmage. No replacement for what the Granger does, but I added Call of the Herd in it's place.
*Incinerate. Firebolt is no replacement but it's nice for the late game. I thought about Volcanic Hammer but it's a sorcery and they SUCK!
Any suggestions/helpful comments for this deck would be appreciated, just remember to keep it control oriented and as close as possible to a two casting cost.

Mainly, this deck loses Impulse, Force of Will and Swords to Plowshares (It already lost Survival of the Fittest).
I'm not happy with the counter magic choices, maybe Memory Lapse should be in there, it's been awefully popular lately in Standard and it's mana efficient too.
The land mix is one that I am currently using for my Ugw Enforcer-Go (OBC), I'm relying on the Portals to make my lands produce G/W via Compulsion. The Compulsion + Squee make for a nice card searching machine. I just use my first Eladamri's Call for Squee (assuming I have Compulsion in play) and free card drawing,...sorta. The Acumulated Knowledges help me find the Compulsions and the Calls.
I am 100% sure that new and innovative decks will be created in the new extended environment and the need to try to revive old decks, like these, will not be necessary. But to the folks who like the 'old decks' , like me, will try and try to re-live the glory days of yore and think..........happy thoughts .
Again, if you have any creative suggestions/comments for either of these decks, please post them. Meanwhile, I'll be testing them to see how they fare.
