The Road to Tourneyland: IBC PTQ in the 'Burgh

Well, this Saturday, Doug <insert slap happy clarinet solo>, the 2 Billy's and I, are trekking up to Butler, Pennsylvania for our Anual, "Welp, I guess we better be tryin' to 'Q' again." adventure :).
Doug is with a UWB Probe-Go, Billy #! is with RUW Lightning Angel.dec and Billy #2 is with, um, well, I think it'll be a BUR sort of deck and I'll be with Eladamri's Quest:

"Eladamri's Quest"
The Land:
1 Treva's Ruins
4 Yavimaya Coast
4 Elfhame Palace
4 Coastal Tower
6 Island
4 Plains
2 Forest

The Creatures:
4 Meddling Mage
4 Sunscape Familiar
4 Mystic Snake
3 Questing Phelddagrif
1 Voice of All
1 Sabertooth Nishoba
1 Fleetfooted Panther

The Spells:
4 Absorb
4 Fact or Fiction
4 Eladamri's Call
4 Repulse
2 Exclude

The SB//
4 Gainsay
3 Armadillo Cloak
2 Jungle Barrier
2 Dodecapod
2 Disrupt
1 Sunscape Battlemage
1 Tolarian Emissary

If you must know, "Yes", it's a net deck. I changed some things but it doesn't mean I was tryin' to be cute and call it my own creation. This deck really fits my taste and play style.
I have been doing some homework on the IBC metegame and I have found out one thing for sure, Blue is used alot, and I mean ALOT! You won't be able to swing a dead cat at a PTQ without hitting at least a dozen or so folks who have blue in their decks. Me included.
Moving on. I have a general idea of what the metagame is around here, but I'm askin' for yer help on a few things.
1.) Just for "fun" , let's say I have been abducted by 3 beautiful Amazon-like women for the past three weeks and I have no idea what decks have been created in that time or what decks have 'evolved' since last month ie "Neo-Solution". What are they?
  • No-Mar
  • Lightning Angel
  • Dark Domain
  • Neo-Solution
  • BW Arena
  • Rocket Shoes or Tokyo.dec
  • GBU Deed-Go
  • Goblin Trenches.dec
  • Liquid Tempo
  • No Cro(sis)
Others? Help me list just the main cards that make up these decks.

2.) My sideboard is Whacked! I know having 4 Gainsay is good, it's agaist other control decks. Dodecapod is my anti-Verdict card, and I'm thinking I'll be seeing loads of him. Disrupt is against black/white/blue decks. Jungle Barrier is for those Bear.dec's, I hate playing against Blurred Mongoose (however, I like playing it :)). Armadillo Cloak is for the R/G decks with Thornscape Battlemage, ugh, I lothe having to play against Rocket Shoes R/G  ! Tolarian Emissary is my one and ONLY anti-enchantment card, without Rushing River, I'm up a ..........without a paddle (hey, that expression was so cool to use there :)). And, Sunscape Battlemage is for those pesky Flyers.

3.) The Mind Game. Some of you may remember me whining about getting Bels Palsy a while ago, well, it's still kinda with me and my face is a tad lop-sided. I used to be the smiling fool but I rarely do so now, "I am Not an animal". So I kinda look scary until I open my gawd dang pie-hole, "Hiya Buddy! Whatcha playin' today? Man, I'm with Mystic Snake and all, and I was just curious, where ya from!?" etc, etc, etc, at neasea  . It's enough to make you sick. But I get nervous and I become the thing that won't shut-up.
My age doesn't really do anything anymore since I'm dressed almost like everybody else (except I'm a size 40 and they're all size 28) and hanging with teen-aged friends (my contemporary's would look down their pencil-pushing noses at this game :().
So I was readin' this article on The Magic Word about Hero's and Villian's and thinking maybe I should manufacture a "Villian" persona, you know, to intimidate my opponent  . But I just gotta be me. Maybe I should like pretend I have laryngitis and force myself not to talk, I have low self-discipline, I would probably explode from holding back the chit-chat. If only I had a shirt that said, "Casualplayers.com - you know, Magic for the rest of us." Yeah, that would be cool, then I could lead my opponent into thinking that I'm a frustrated "pro-Tour" wanna be scrub and,......and,......hey, I AM a frustrated "Pro-Tour" wanna be scrub! Oh well, the shirt would be cool :). Maybe in black and orange (heh-heh).
Well, I just don't feel like scrolling down PTQ's thread where extensive and intellectual conversations were had about the IBC environment and metegame so, YOU don't have to post anything if you don't want to <insert whiny voice>, I don't need you,...........all I I need is this Island,......and maybe that D20, an that's all,...............and, and, this forest,.....but that's all...............;).

Wish me Good Luck on that long and dusty road, to Tourneyland!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll look forward to reading about the guy in a dopey shirt who made a surprise finish in the top 8 of the PTQ.

But seriously, I love 'Hippo-Junk' it pisses alot of people off. I would run 1 maindeck Armidillo Cloak and 2 main deck Dismantling Blow...

-4x Sunscape Familliar
-1x Hippo(sorry man)
-1x Repulse

+1x Armadillo Cloak
+1x Voice of All
+2x Fleetfoot Panther
+2x Dismantling Blow

Without the reble chain I guess you wouldn't call it hippo junk.
So let's call it Hippo Pimp:D (j/k)

Good Luck!

You`d take out Sunscape Familiar? Are you mad??? You`ve surely never ever played this deck before if you are willing to do that

Personally I think the deck looks really solid except for the following queries:

Is Eladamri`s Call really better than Prohibit? In fact is really worthwhile at all? Certainly not 4 of, as you are jam-packed with creatures as it is. Two, max, IMHO.
You don`t even have SB enchantment removal, we used maindeck Trevas Charms.
Is Meddling Mage better than Galinas Knight? We tend to find it very rare for the Mage to ever stop somebody from casting a spell, whereas Pro:Red is a very powerful defensive ability.

I`d say

-1 Voice Of All
-2 Eladamri`s Call
-1 Fact Or Fiction

+3 Prohibit
+1 Benalish Heralds

But our version somehow found slots for 2 maindeck Jungle Barrier and 2 maindeck Trevas Charms where you are using Calls and random big creatures to call for. Not sure which is better though so your build might well be stronger.

You`ll want at least 3 Aura Blasts in your SB.

They stop those crazy bears!
Enchantment removal <sigh>, I know I'll be facing a few in Ceta/Storm, BW Arena, Deed-Go, friggin' stupid Coalition Honor Guard or whatever the hell it's called  , and others. So, I probably should have Aura Blast in my SB.
+ Aura Blast x3
- Sunscape Battlemage
- Tolarian Emissary
- Armadillo Cloak

I'll ponder over the other suggestions this afternoon.
Thanks.

Spiderman: Short dumpy-lookin' Mexicans don't really represent the Hero-type. I'm more like the expendable humorous sidekick-type :D.
oooo, also Spidy, I got Apprentice, now what?

Hmmm, maybe you can be a "B" hero (like that movie a couple years back, something Men).

You finally got Apprentice? Cool... my time is still not good to play though, I'll have to let you know.

After taking into consideration that I had no way of really getting rid of pesky enchantments and other stuff, I made some modifications;

"U/G/W Snake.dec"
The Lands:
S.A.A

The Creatures:
4 Meddling Mage (had to keep it)
4 Mystic Snake ( I read an article written in mid-May that said the snake might , see play)
4 Sunscape Familiar (my white BoP's)
3 Questing Phelddagrif
1 Fleetfooted Panther
1 Sabertooth Nishoba

The Spells:
4 Absorb
2 Exclude
3 Prohibit (wicked against turn two Kitty-Kats)
3 Fact or Fiction
4 Repulse
3 Treva's Charm (If Spiritmonger got past me, here's my back-up plan :))

SB//
3 Aura Blast (a Cantrip, too!)
2 Dodecapod
2 Disrupt
2 Jungle Barrier
4 Gainsay
2 Armadillo Cloak

So, gone, are the Eladamri's Call, I'm still drawing pretty good stuff and Prohibits were the missing piece of the pie.

I didn't realize that inclusion of the familiar was so importart, I played the deck in T II not IBC, almost noone uses the bears in decks besides metagame choices around here. But you have awakened me.

Now it's my turn to call you crazy...

Gizmo- You would take out Voice of All? Are you mad???
You use the Eldamri's call to get the utility creatures sutch as the Voice and Fleetfoot Panther, and once you get enough mana, you can search for the Sabertooth Nishoba.

my suggestions-

Main Deck:
-1x Hippo(sorry man)
-4x Repulse
-1x FoF

+1x Armadillo Cloak
+2x Dismantling Blow
+3x Treva's Charm

SB:

-1x Tolarian Emisary
-1x Sunscape Familliar(you can use the Hippo)

+1x Hippo
+1x Dismantling Blow

MAYBE this will help

(thanx to the administrator who changed the 'G' word in my first post)
