The Problem With Premium

This is partially in response to Ortega's Article, and partially to Rkoelsh's response to it....

Brainburst.com has most of the top-notch magic writers.

It has Zvi and Forsynth and Seth, it hs the retirees from mindripper and dojo. It has alot of the best writers. Now, I'm not here to discuss strategy. I could care less about that, but what worries me is that I no longer get to read these people's writing anymore. Sure, Forsynth does some fluff articles for magicthegathering.com, but besides that, where have they gone?

I don't complain about the lack of "tech" available. But the quality of writing online has noticeably deteriorated. I don't know if there's some way we can convince the good writers out there to send in some non-tech articles, something that will be free, simply so I can again read their stuff. I miss the free-enterprise and competetive system. Help.

There's an "o" at the end of my name :p !

Very few people will own up to the notion that they themselves are good writers, in fact, YOU may very well be the best writer in Magic, you just haven't realized your potential yet, maybe.

As for articles, Brainburst still has articles for the general public's viewing pleasure, non-tech articles at that! There's one right now talking about reading articles (of all things to write about for cryin' out loud, it's good though).

Duel, have you heard that Rizzo has departed Magic?

It saddened me, too...

I wonder if some of the "non-tech" articles could be cut-and-pasted into e-mails...

I wouldn't mind reading Zvi's latest on the leaked Judgement spoiler...

Also, where've ya been, Ole Chappe?

I've been in hiding, seclusion. The CIA donchaknow.

Actually, I've been attempting to get into colleges and playing only a few casual games, so I'm a little rusty. I draft alot more than I play constructed.

I did NOT know that Rizzo had left. I've been so out of the loop that Magicthegathering.com has caught me up. I went to the torment prerelease only to discover that it was the black set. Once there, I went 2-0 drop (I couldn't stay the entire time and I wanted to side draft) and beating Mons of Mons goblin raiders, the swept two side drafts to opponents who hadn't figured out that people should draft black in a black set. I hadn't even downloaded the spoiler..........

So Rizzo's gone..... hmmm.... I sense a great disturbance in the farce....

Frankly, though, I liked the general strategy discussions. I liked Zvi and Flores (both of whom have occasional stuff still).

Just be patient. This scheme will fail, like most internet-based schemes to squeeze $ out of surfers.

I'd like to see honest numbers on how many people have signed up for the premium service. I'd bet there aren't many.

Personally, I quit going to Brainburst when they started putting pop-up ads on every friggin' page - I hate pop-up ads!

Do they have a right to attempt to wring every cent of revenue out of their website? Well, sure they do. Just like I have a right not to soil my eyes on their website.

If they give me no reason to visit, why should I tolerate these annoyances?

Nope. Remember, when I look for tech, it's -nique and not -nology. Shneider is interesting and fun to read. The best free writer at brainburst, regardless of his ideas.
