The Tentacled One
Three of the Legends legends are mana-dorks, and none of them are very much like any sort of legendary mana-dork that would be printed today. One of them just taps for U, one of them just taps for B, and then there's Sunastian Falconer, who makes two colorless mana. As the 55 possible 1994 commanders go, Sunastian Falconer strikes me as slightly above average. He's in a mediocre color combination for Commander and really, the only thing he does of interest is help ramp your mana production. There are many much better sources of mana acceleration, but he does live in the Command Zone, so there's that.
I mostly built this yesterday morning in the game store, so it's not remotely polished. But I played for points and got a bit lucky. This time around, I scored 40 points in the League, breaking my previous record of 36 (two other players have on other occasions scored 43 points and 46 points, so my personal record is not the overall record). Success!
