R. I. P. ~Unnamed Deck~

Well, It just dawned upon me that another deck has bitten the dust...

Some may remember AEtherficer, which I morned in the black-and-orange days of the CPA, or mabe Paralyzed Priest T*t, near the beginning of the Blue-and-White days...

And I know I didn't bother you a year ago when my "Hero Quest" deck died due to the erratta-ing of Benalish Hero and Kjeldoran Knight into Soldier, and Beast Walker into a Townsfolk. Poor, poor, poor 0/0 Aysen Crusader...

And now, another deck dies to erratta.:(

The saddest part is this... the deck never even had a name. And it was only played three times, too... and those times, I played it twice, and a friend of Ransac and I played it once. He didn't like it.

What was it? U/B. Including almost four of each Sleight of Mind types of cards, a few crappy black color hosers... and creatures with fear... I never played the required ten games with it to name it, and now cannot.

However, with the new introduction of the ability called "fear," the deck has now died. I will create a tombstone, with reasons for death written in, and put it into the binder which houses the Dead Decks...

For every creature that I once could make unblockable even to black creatures... now cannot be Slighted...

:(

I've already burnt the deck in the sink, and scraped up the ashes. So many near-useless rares have perished in this way. I will put the remains in a deck protector, seal it, and draw up the tombstone soon...

It's sad to me when a card or deck is killed by errata...

Is it sad to you, as well? I really miss my AEtherficer, and my Paralyzed priest, as well...

Y'know, sharing your thoughts can really take the edge off your emotions...

Dang man, sad story. I've destroyed some of my crappier decks and card game collections. I feel your pain, dude.

At least ya have that deck on MTGO which doesnt look like errata will kill.

But dang, I never figured keywording "Fear" would mess up an entire deck. Good point you make.

I sympathize strongly. Has the Fear ability been errataed across the board? :confused:

Horrible if it has. I had a similar deck. Called it Sleightly Unpredictable. It had numerous protection creatures and maindecked Chills and Perishes and Glooms. Maybe you could modify it without Fear creatures?

Then again, it won't be the same, would it.

There. That's my moment of silence for your deck. :(

Can someone provide a link to the errata? I don't remember seeing it on the Crystalkeep Sept. update...

Where are you getting your errata from? I looked on Crystal Keep and Razortooth Rats still have the color Black and Benalish Hero is still a Hero.

Its in the Onslaught FAQ :

Fear

The official rules for the fear ability are as follows:

502.25. Fear

502.25a Fear is an evasion ability.

502.25b A creature with fear can't be blocked except by artifact
creatures and/or black creatures.

* The fear ability works just like an ability of some older cards which
read, "This creature can't be blocked except by artifact creatures
and/or black creatures."
~~~~
And the tendency for Wizards is to rename the ability via erratta, like Haste's guys. I can see the wrighting on the wall.
Then again, I've got close to eighty other decks... so who knows what might happen? :D
theorgg: I checked out Aysen Crusader and the card is still a 2/2 at the very least. Also, I JUST checked CrystalKeep and the Oracle, and there are still three Hero cards... Check them out here. Dude, I don't think "Hero Quest" is dead.
Yeah, your "Afraid of the Obvious" deck (there, I just named it) just got blown out of the water. Did you seriously burn the cards?!
This stuff will probably be added to Crystalkeep in the October update...
Hey, they even clarified the "When cycling" rule that popped up in the Rules forum...
WOW!
DUNE's back!... Again.. :D
Yea, I gave it a nice little funeral. It wasn't anything expensive-- most of the cards I needed were given to me by NG-Atlanta regulars...
"Obviously Afraid..."
I'll have to add that to the tombstone. A post-mortem naming. That's never happened to me before...
Then again, I'll probably find a loophole, build a deck around it, and then they'll close it... so then, Bah!
Also, I don't think those Heros still exist... I think on the DCI site's documentation, Beast Walkers are a Townsfolk, Benalish Hero is a Soldier, and Kjeldorian Knight is now a knight.
If they're still heros... well... that deck sucked, anyway. ;)
When in doubt, let the Oracle figure it out.
I've found these Heroes:
Beast Walkers
Benalish Hero
Kjeldoran Warrior
EDIT: Just supporting Dune Echo's post.
Somtimes, things seem to be a big deal...
and then events happen to change that.
Really, this is a bunch of excrement, compared to an event that has just come to my knowledge.
A friend of Sammy Dead O's, of whom I met at the Plainshift Pre Relese, died recently. I found out about a minute ago in Off Topic.
I'm ninteen... but he was only sixteen-- and no longer lives.
Y'know, that deck can go to hell for all I care... There's too many misplaced priorities in this world, and sometimes you just have to take time to reexamine your own...
