Supposed to meet a couple of friends at one's house. Of course, he's there, but the other isn't... finally comes at 9:30. Travel in separate cars because I'm not sure I want to be "tied" to the others schedules... ran into the 395 backup Az mentioned, got to the place about 11:30 after finding a place to park, and found out we missed all the available flights and have to wait until one opens up. So we put ourselves on the waiting list, have some lunch, and play a couple games of MP. Won the first and was in the middle of the second when they start calling for the next available flight. Got our cards, opened up, not too impressed with mine except for the Soul Foundry (which I never ended up using) and the Iso-something Scepter which could imprint 2cc or less instants (would work well with Shatter, I thought - never really got to use it either). Initially made a R/G deck but after the first round changed it to R/U.
Played against a guy who happened also to live in the Baltimore area - went 1-2 but he gave me the win as he was dropping to play in the Team Sealed. I think he had a U/W.
Turns out my friends left after the first round but neglected to tell me
so the second round I was paired up against one of them and was surprised that they didn't show. After getting the win after the required 10 minutes, I called them and found out why they were leaving.
Lost the third round to a fellow who had a pretty tight B/W/U? deck... I was mana screwed the first game and mana flooded the second, but he really had a good deck so I don't think it would have made a difference.
Drew in the last round so we could share the prize but gave my opponent the points 'cause they don't matter to me
So pretty good experience... found some better cards in the packs I won that would have been good in my sealed
but oh well.
