This deck is generally pretty kickass. A tremor or earthquake rips it to shreds if i cant eat my saprolings (elvish farmer) or sac them to the altar.

When you get 3-4 creatures, things start exploding. Usually you have turns 1-3 slow, then it picks up.. it usually outlasts ANY counter deck with all the retrieval.

To really be amazing it needs a tiny bit of work.
Metagame getting 150 saprolings is easy.

Squirrel Nest/Spontaneous Generation:

Squirrel Nest is generally good, but only to get 2-3 creatures... then its not really that important.

Spontaneous is kind of a secondary strategy. Holding cards sometimes is a really bad idea, sometimes it works flawlessly. It just seems to add a certain strain on the deck i don't really like.

Cards i'm debating.
Argothian Elder+Cradle=Infinite mana
Chatter of the squirrel

Verdant force
Natural Order
Epic Struggle: to win with 20 creatures.
Bubble Matrix/steely resolve: to prevent tremor/earthquake from hurting me

Life/Death: to animate all my lands before a saproling symbiosis.

Any thoughts?

Caller gives you creatures for nontokens that hit the graveyard, so he'd just give me 1 2/2 bear. and yes.. I am afraid of earthquake when i use this deck.

Tremor, earthquake, Bloodfire Dwarf, Goblin Sharpshooter, Cave-In, Fault Line, Krak-Clan Shaman, Pyroclasm, Slice and Dice, Starstorm, Tremor, Flamebreak, Breath of Darigaaz and Wildfire

and a few non-red that are just annoying.

Echoing Decay, Echoing Truth,
Midnight of Souls revival, Engineered plague

Verdeloth the Ancient (Invasions)

4/7 Creature -- Treefolk Legend

4GG

Kicker x

All other Treefolk and Saprolings get +1/+1.

When Verdeloth the Ancient comes into play, if you paid the kicker cost, put X 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens into play.

I feel that this is a must!!!

I have a Saproling/ Squirrel Deck, and since you mentioned Chatter of the squirrel, I will list it so you can see what it might look like.

Creatures:

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa
Verdeloth the Ancient
Nemata, Grove Guardian
2 Elvish Farmer
2 Thalid
1 Squirrel Wrangler

Spells:

1 Worldly Tutor
4 Acorn Harvest
4 Chatter of the Squirrel
2 Parallel Evolution
2 Fungal Bloom
2 Spidersilk Armor
1 Regrowth
2 Squirrel Nest
2 Overrun
4 Moment's Peace
4 An-Havva Inn
2 Superior Numbers

Artifacts:

1 Coat of Arms (I love this card!)
1 Riptide Replicator (Ever seen a 8/8 Saproling?)

This is a deck that I keep together, all the time, and my play group hates to see it. Should have seen the match I had against the Goblin Deck. (took about 3 hours for a simple duel, and only won by deck default!)

I guess the best thing to do would be to add chatter of the squirrels, and earthcrafts,. I'm really hesitant to include squirrel nest with earthcraft however... people just hate that.

-2 Spontaneous Generation
-2 Squirrel Nest

Saprolings

Creatures
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Priest of Titania
4 Chatter of the Squirrel
3 Elvish Farmer
1 Nemata, Grove Guardian

Spells
4 Saproling Symbiosis
3 Echoing Courage
3 Restock
3 Revive
2 Crop Rotation
2 Parallel Evolution

Enchantments
3 Saproling Burst

Artifacts
2 Altar Of Dementia
2 Snake Basket

Lands
18 Forest
2 Gaea's Cradle

that way i could have 8 chances for a turn 1 drop, and 9 (13 with a flashbacked squirrel) for a turn 2. Giving me 21 chances to have a turn 2 drop.

I still feel that Verdeloth the Ancient (Invasions) is a must. He is like the Goblin King for Saprolings.

Other than that, I see your point with the squirrel nests, maybe that is why I have several decks that people do not want to play against...(sometimes flat out refuse)

:D

I'm working with a damage buffer G/W deck. Doesn't have a solid win condition but it prevents most everything...

I'll have to post it.. see what people think i should change.. It's irritating :)
