My old Goblin deck was a mess. It was a cross between some of the cards in this deck and another theory that worked off of Goblin Warrens, Coat of Arms, etc.
The deck was pulling against itself - Coat of Arms likes many critters whereas Goblin Sharpshooter frequently needs sacrifices to get going.
This is a fun deck that fares reasonably well against speed black and true Sligh matchups but not as well against Stompy. All in all it's a but underpowered for the guys in my group as they just love Elf+Sol Ring + Urza Land = Big Creature type of decks.
All that said I still like it. I especially like it because it is not my normal Goblin deck read: Bolt, Incinerate, Fireblast, etc. These little guys just take the field and try to get the job done with the rusty weapons in their hands and the lice on their backs : )
As always - any suggestions are welcome.
Here she is in all her red glory. I don't think that I'll be able to resist going back and doing another Old School Goblin deck but for now here's me and da boys.
Name "The Grenade Brigade"
Motto "Good ol' rock. Nothing beats rock. But grenades are good too."
Theme: Overwhelm the enemy with fast creatures.
Alternate: Goblin Sharpshooter sacrifice tricks and limited direct damage with Grenades and mayhap the one odd Browbeat that may connect.
4x Skirk Prospector
4x Goblin Sledder
4x Mogg Fanatic
4x Mogg Flunkies
4x Goblin Piledriver
4x Goblin Warchief
4x Goblin Sharpshooter
4x Goblin Goon
4x Goblin Grenade
4x Browbeat
20x Mountain
1. This deck has to stay mono-red. I know there are many great non-Red additions to this type of deck but for the sake of theme I'd rather keep this all Red.
2. Card advantage - Right now all I have is Browbeat. I'm considering switching this out for Goblin Matron and adding some fetch lands. Any ideas or comments regarding this idea?
3. I'd like to keep pure Direct Damage out of the deck. The Goblin Grenades fit my theme as essentially I'm setting loose a little Goblin Homicide Bomber (I realize that this is a sensitive time w/ regard to this sort of thing. Please be assured no offense was intended by mentioning bombs or bombers. It is mentioned simply in the context of this deck. We can talk politics in the proper Forum.).
4. Browbeat also works for me as I can see it in the theme of the deck where conversing with a Goblin would be somewhat of a Beating. I can also see the Warchief beating down a subordinate and also can see just about anyone giving a Goblin what he wants just to get him to go away.
