Fraternities

I was inducted to be a pledge this past monday and I have no free time, I have to wear "nice" clothes(they may be nice, but they are very uncomfortable), and I am about to kill someone due to sleep deprivation.

Anyone in the same boat? If not, any comments?

I am still undecided as to a real purpose of the whole Greek system, aside from being a "nationwide formal" social group (I guess it's the college equivalent of the Honor Society or Mu Alpha Theta or something) but hope you do well and don't experience some unpleasant experiences such as hazing.

Avoid fraternities at all cost!

Be independent!

When you follow the herd, you step in a lot of poop!

I dunno what it's like to BE in a Frat, but from personal experience, I can tell you Frat guys as a rule are kinda strange. :)

Yep, that's what I feel too....

But well, everybody makes their own choices.

Good luck, I hope they don't make you a slave to the frat brothers or beat the oink out of you on a daily basis...

Ungh.....Just got back from the semesterly football game, all the pledges are allowed on the field at the same time. Unfortunately, so are all the brothers. It was like 13 to 9 as the teams and we got stomped 35-14. And, yes, it was full contact without any padding.

In short, I'm hurting right now.

I'm hurting right now too, but for me, it's because I judged for 15 hours yesterday, and 13 today. :) Standing up WAY too long... :)

If it isn't that much fun, then don't be a part. It's not like they can do anything to you.

"not like they can do anything to you" ...Are you kidding?

Locally, the recent inductees into a UF frat spent four days locked in a personal warehouse shed with nothing to eat but cat food and coffee grounds. And that's to get in to one of the nonfataly-hazing frats. Selling your soul to a frat is the same as to Satan or AOL. Once you're in, there's no way out.

I think it's the process of getting in that's hard; once you're in, you're okay.

Almost like basic training or something... :)

Hetemti is right. Over here, one night frat brothers tied one of the pledges to a tree and did something that I don't want to post on a family website, but the guy ended up retarded for the rest of his life. And the saddest part is, they got away with it. No lawsuit, no nothing.
