Sometimes a card which is so, so...how you say? "Ka-Ka" demands that I build a deck around it. Door to Nothingness was such a card.

The effect is cool, the CC great for it's ability but as everyone knows there's only one slight problem..it's god-awful activation cost. It' might as well read:

Tap Insert into trade binder where it will remain forever.

The workaround I used while not the most elegant, functions well enough.

Mycosynth Lattice. I like this card too, and had been searching far and wide for it's home. Well walla, Door to Nothingness meet your savior.

The whole idea is real simple. Use either the Urzatron Lands, or Metalworker to create a ton of mana then DtN the most powerful opponent.

Also I used an old trick with Goblin Welder to recur the Door as well as Mindslaver.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well in functioned considering it uses some ka-ka rares. But in truth its really just broken stuff like Goblin Welder and Metalworker winning. However there is a certain satisfying feeling watching opponents reaction once door hits the table.

WOW!, I wanna Playtest or build this deck......I like the whole deck.

couple nit-picky things of mine: I would go either 4 Fabricate or 4 Careful study.....personally I don't like Opportunity, and study is a turn one draw....I also think that you won't need the Trash for Treasures. I would sideboard them.... I sideboard them in my Welder deck. The reason being is that the 4 Welders are more than enough.....especially with the drawing.....and you would only really need them against a black or red deck or any other deck with ways to can the Welder.

Also Pentavus is a cool card to use with Welder, because they form an infinite combo... Check out my article.

Justifications for keeping or removing Trash for Treasure depend on your metagme I think. Removal, especially spot, is absolutely running rampant in my multiplayer group. I'll honestly be surprised if either the welder or metalworker makes it through an entire loop of players. So that's why I added it...a "break glass in case of spot removal" if you will.

I think you might be looking at this deck and comparing it to the Bosh deck we built a while ago. There are similarities to both decks, however this DtN decks functions completely different. It's purpose isn't to circumvent CC but to actually hard caste the artifacts. Welder is in there to recur the door/mindslaver for control of the game.

....but your probably right about Opportunity .

How about removing some cards and using Intuition to search
for some doors and some other goody at EoT. You might want
to add a few of the 'Land' that gives you B/U/G/R/W. I can not
remember the name, sorry. Just in-case of no Lattice

I think Damping Matrix would be less of a problem for Door than a deck that has a kill condition...

Well... damping is a kill condition in this case...

but good point...

maybe you just need some more utility.... Sun droplet, or other life gain or protection... ensnaring bridge maybe...:)
