A few (1 person maybe :D) of you might have noticed that I've taken quite the hiatus from the boards recently. Hopefully I'm back for awhile. A night job and real work during the day had stolen my free time.

Onto the deck (No planeshift influence YET).

Creatures 11
4 Varchild's War-Riders (key #1)
3 Avatar of Woe (Almost always pay the ACC)
1 Plague Spitter
1 Blazing Spectre
2 Cinder Shade (last minute replacement for Black Market)

Permanents 11
4 Dingus Staff (key #2)
4 Pestilence (key #3)
2 Aeither Flash (key #4)
1 Zuran Orb

Spells 10
2 Mogg Infestation (Kicks booty in here)
2 Dregs of Sorrow (so does this)
2 Rolling Thunder
2 Soul Burn
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Wheel of Fortune

Mana 28
4 Dark Ritual
1 Sol Ring
1 Grim Monolith
3 Urborg Volcano
2 Sulfurous Springs
1 Reflecting Pool
1 Strip Mine
2 Volrath's Stronghold
7 Swamps
6 Mountains

This is my new favorite deck to play. It holds its own in 1 vs 1 but was built for Multi-player. Its faster than it looks, a 3/4 Trampler+Rampage for 1R is nothing to laugh at and almost always does 6-12 points of damage. It also is a great support deck until it gets the Dingus Staff out.

Things I'd like to change in the deck:
Lower mana curve, even if its just a little
"X" Spells. They were originally in here to abuse Black Market but as fun as the market was its way to unreliable (and mana burn sucks every turn).

Better creature base:

Cards I'm thinking about:
Thran's lens
Terminate, hey it kicks butt
Earthquake
Good card-drawing??

Any and all comments welcome.

Since you have Demonic Tutor and Wheel of Fortune, I'm guessing anything goes here (card-wise)...

No Badlands?

Is Soul Burn good? I was thinking of good 'ol Fireball for X spells.

Whoa ur alive! u were the first 1 to welcome me, and after that...u disappeared.

my 2cents, i agree m/ spidey, use fire ball, also when planshift comes out grab yo self sum termiates, i would suggest duel lands but they're hard for the average joe to get

Thanks for returning the favor Teferi. I had a freelance job for awhile that took pretty much all my spare time. I won't be around as much as I used to be, but I don't think I'll be disappearing again. I had missed the CPA.

Spidey--yes, anything goes. Our group sticks to Type 1 Restrictions.

Anyway, I don't own any Badlands, or else they would definitely be in here. I'd like to cut back on X spells b/c of the hefty casting costs in here, but I do love their versatility. Here are the X spells I'm considering.

Earthquake (own 2)
Fireball (own 4)
Ghitu Fire (own 2)

I'm reluctant to let go of Dregs of Sorrow, it really is a great card in here but I think Soul burn is gonna be dropped.

Any suggestions for creatures? I own zero Thrashing Wumpi.

Nice deck!

I've tryed to build decks using the War-Riders but they never turned out as well as yours. I even tryed an Oath of
Druid's version but it never worked very well.(enough
about my attempts)

"

About the only think I can think of is: Pyroclasm. It should
help against fast weenie decks.

"Any suggestions for creatures?"

Have you tryed Subterrean Spirit? It wouldn't lower your mana curve but it would kill all of the opponents 1/1's

I really like your deck. Its great to see someone take those so called junky rares & uncommons and build a
deck that works.

Thanks Cap.

Subterranean Spirit is a great idea! Its going right into here (when I can find it), actually so is Pyroclasm for that matter.

An Oath of Druids version, hmmm.....

I wrote an article on a deck like this for Dune Echo's contest some time back. If you can find it in the archives, it may have some good info for you (it got second in the contest, so it can't have been terrible). My version was mono-red, and used Earthquakes and a Fault Line or two in place of the Pestilences.

Hi Mikeymike! I am still away, but am online for at least a little while -- the desert is NOT where I want to be.

I seem to recall an artifact that deals 1 damage to each attacking creature... but name and card set escape me (out of the loop too long).

As an aside, two Pummel precons combined make for a decent deck in an environment of Prophecy, Invasion, and Nemesis precon decks. I'll post my magical misadventures later.

Would Pandemonium count for or against you when the tokens came into play?

Until next time....
