I haven't played much IBC in the last several months, so I was surprised to see a U/G deck in the mix. The article (Top-Notch Tech-Blue-Green) @ http://www.wizards.com/sideboard/articleprint.asp?x=sb20010725a[/URL] mentions that it's kind of the new "Aggro-Control" deck of the block. Well, this deck certainly fits my play style and has the feel of decks I usually like to play.
Has anyone gone up against this deck and if so how did it fare?
The local PTQ is Aug. 25 here in the 'Burgh and I'm lookin' to play something a little weird (like this).
Let me know what you think of it.

The purest of tempo decks. :)

While 16 bears is all well and good, I can't help but feel like a larger creature might be a good addition - Every single one of those gets run over by a 3/3, short of the kicked Titan. That seems like a risky move to me, but I'm not expert on IBC. I don't really like the format too much...

From what I've been told any IBC deck with an average amount
of burn is kind of hard to deal with. I was also told that a badly
timed Spectral Lynx is difficult to deal with. It seems like a lot
of the IBC decks lean toward U/G/x(B,R,W). Brian Kowal's Deck is
U/G/B and its been getting a lot of attention, as well as the deck
you posted. I think everybody is expecting these two decks now.

However, here's an optional decklist to consider:

7 Forest
7 Island
4 Yavimaya Coast
4 Disrupt
4 Rushing River
4 Temporal Spring
4 Repulse
4 Exclude
4 Mystic Snake
4 Gaea's Skyfolk
4 Blurred Mongoose
4 Kavu Titan
3 Opt
3 Lay of the Land

I did a little IBC play-testing this weekend. I tryed out both the U/W/B deck I've been working on, and a U/B/R deck. I also played the U/B/R IBC deck in a Type II tournament, just for kicks.

Much to my suprise, I thought the U/B/R did better, and during actual IBC testing, I bested a carbon-copy of the above U/G deck 5 out of 7 games. The same U/B/R also took me to the top 8 in the local Type II touney, where a Sabertooth Nishoba smacked me around without a Slay in sight.

Most of the people there had either U/G, like the above, or something with Spectral Lynx in it. Gizmo's right, a lot of those Lynx decks fold right away to a Shivan Zombie...and Blured Mongoose gets eaten by Voldalian Zombies.

4 Nightscape Familier
4 Shivan Zombie
4 Voldalian Zombie
4 Hate Weaver

4 Terminate
4 Repulse
4 Urza's Rage
4 Prophetic Bolt
4 Fire/Ice

4 Shivan Reef
4 Salt Marsh
4 Urborg Volcano
4 Islands
5 Swamps
3 Mountains

4 Gainsay
4 Slay
2 Obliderate
4 Recoil (in case the have larger, unburnable creatures)
1 Spite/Malice
