Another one bites the dust...

"Exit 13" is the name of the local card shop where I play. I found out that it will be closing in March 2001 :(.
This is the third card shop that I have frequented that has closed.
The real 'kicker' is that the evil "Shop Guru", that many of you may remember me refering to often, is buying out the shop owner and re-opening the store as an electronic place. Wussupwitdat!?
Oh well, Infinity Comics in the neighboring Borough (Penn Hills) is about a 20 min. drive, I guess I'll go there and take some of the Exit 13 fella's with me.
Magic is great, but it's no way to make a living, I guess.
Humph, "This Too, Shall Pass" is a little hard to swallow right now.

The only store within 20 miles decided to relocate to 40 miles...and it's still the nearest.

Better make that two more bite the Dust yellowjacket. I'm also having to close my shop down at the end of January 2001. After being killed by internet auction sites and having to compete with both a Walmart and Coles Books (sub-division of Chapters), I have no choice but to close my doors. :(

Just like the Tyranosaurus and Sabertooth Tiger, so much for the small town local game stores...

I have to proudly say that the gaming store in my area is closing down... because of me and my friends. The owner is the biggest jerk in Magic, and if it wasn't a family website, I'd say a couple more things about him. Anyway, due in parts to the my efforts, he's closing down. But then again, I live in NYC, so there's always at least 5 more shops just in Brooklyn, and Neutral Ground...

That's the dilemma players face - we love internet prices for boxes and singles, but this takes business away from the local store, so we have no place to play.

I hope someone can come up with a solution to this problem, and soon!

The shop that I frequent was going to close down and lowered all his prices to 50%. When he did this, his sales increased 300% and now the owner talks about expanding the stores. Woo Hoo!

BTW, here in Central Arkansas, there are 4 shops that I can vist.

Cabot-Halftime-15 minute drive, but more of a baseball card shop.

Sherwood-Warp Drive-My hangout of choice. 35 min drive

Little Rock-Game Room-Where all the Grand Prix and stuff is done for Arkansas. Has the best selection 1 hour 10 min drive.

Little Rock-Family Game Room-Another store with great selection, but a 2 hour drive at best. :(

I got the info. wrong! They're going to sell electronic toys AND gaming cards. They're moving next door to a more modern place and still calling it "Exit 13" (btw, the name derives because that's the exit no.# to our town from the nearest highway).
