Yeah, they didn't... but it appears that it gets dark really early there. From the beginning of the episode, the last team (David and Mary) left at about 6 AM, meaning they would have arrived at the pit stop at 6 PM. And it was dark then too. So I think it gets dark pretty quick from 4:30-5:30.
