Unsavory Deeds 2: Benalia Drift [EDH]

Won another game, with my opponents collectively agreeing to concede. Although I like this deck, has the problem that once it gets going, it takes over games with progressively longer and more complicated turns. So it's a success story, but one that I should probably bring to a close. I was...

    Epic [EDH]

Fittingly, I used all three of the new inclusions tonight over the course of a single game. I held off two opponents that both had impressive creature armies, using Peacekeeper, Maze of Ith, and Dueling Grounds to protect myself. Ultimately, it came down to me against a single opponent with a...

    Epic [EDH]

I already stated that I felt like I worked too hard last year to build a new deck every week, and had no interest in repeating that performance. Well, I think I've kept up a pretty good pace so far of building new decks and revising existing ones. After some testing and organization, I've...

Unsavory Deeds 2: Benalia Drift [EDH]

High Market is so good here! Why didn't I think of it earlier? My opponents slowed me down a bit with removal on stuff that scared them, such as Field of the Dead and Crucible of Worlds. They didn't get rid of my Skullclamp or my Parallel Lives, which meant that High Market on Torsten generated...

    Compleat Discount [EDH]

Well, this deck won again. It was pretty lackluster too. I think that any of my three opponents could have picked me off if they had felt safe doing so. I was able to keep stalling for time and transformed my commander on what was already going to be my last turn of the game before I was killed...

    Red Turban Rebellion [EDH]

I think that the new changes are probably improvements, but my most recent game went poorly. One opponent had Dissipation Field, so attacking him with my rebel tokens would have been bad for me. Another player had a deck that immediately dished out substantial commander damage against me with...

    Doctor Claw [EDH]

Got manascrewed and fell behind when I tried this deck last night. That's always a risk when playing with a mana curve like this one.

    Wootz Eggs [EDH]

Played a bunch of games last night. The last game was with this deck. Unfortunately, my opening hand let me flood the board with artifacts really quickly and painted a huge target on me. My opponents understandably focused their removal on me, which slowed me down and let another player assemble...

Unsavory Deeds 2: Benalia Drift [EDH]

Testing this deck brought me to an awkward conclusion. I find that I often get stuck with no way to kill my own creatures, especially my commander, and am stuck hoping that my opponents will do the job for me. The deck has awesome sac outlets, but they all get put on the bottom of my library by...

After a bit of testing, I've spotted some changes I want to make. -1 Displacer Kitten -1 Approach of the Second Sun -1 Terminus -1 Teferi, Time Raveler -1 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon -1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth +1 Mystic Remora +1 Seal of Cleansing +1 Seal of Removal +1 Standstill +1 Lotus Petal +1...

    Red Turban Rebellion [EDH]

Some more revisions. So, I definitely pulled Task Force from my bulk boxes along with other rebels when I built this deck, but I honestly can't remember whether I omitted it deliberately to eschew comboing with it or whether I actually just didn't think of that at all. Doesn't matter. I'm...

Magic Memories: Goblin King (and his kingdom)

As our fifth chapter progressed, the overall Vial Goblins archetype in Legacy stayed more or less the same. Some niche tools became available, but mostly those had better results in other formats. I know that Modern saw some fluctuation in its own goblin decks. In Legacy, things became rather...

Only played this deck once so far. Got into a weird spot where I was durdling with Parallax Tide on my own lands for marginal value. Eventually I used a big Cyclonic Rift and then followed it up with my commander and Time Spiral, which let me combo off.

I wasn't necessarily disappointed by the commander options with the latest set, but I wasn't really impressed either. The main legend that stuck out to me was "Zimone and Dina." If I'll pulled that card in a booster pack, I'd have felt obligated to build a deck around it. Well, I didn't pull the...

    Doctor Claw [EDH]

Awesome. My first game since putting Zodiac Dragon in the deck, and I won with Zodiac Dragon. I fell behind on mana production, but had Zirilan of the Claw, Phyrexian Altar, Sneak Attack, and Lathliss, Dragon Queen. Made 400,000,000,000 dragon tokens and swung in for the win.

    Wootz Eggs [EDH]

Yeah, this deck keeps winning. I made some serious misplays, but no one was able to capitalize on them and I was able to execute a Bomberman loop for the win.

Unsavory Deeds 2: Benalia Drift [EDH]

Played another game with this deck. I lost, but I also kinda-sorta threw the game early on by using Enlightened Tutor to fetch a Manabond that I never actually needed for the rest of the game. If I'd grabbed Sylvan Library instead, I wouldn't have been stuck in topdeck mode. My opponents avoided...

I have one change that I can make now that I own the card I've been wanting to run this whole time... -1 Tyrant's Familiar +1 Zodiac Dragon

Magic Memories: Goblin King (and his kingdom)

Yeah, it's not a version of the deck that I had much experience with, so I don't feel all that qualified to comment on it. Traditional Vial Goblins decks succeeded by being able to put a lot of aggro pressure on opponents while also being able to go the distance by ramping into more synergies...

Unsavory Deeds 2: Benalia Drift [EDH]

This deck won its first game, although I wasn't really impressed. Basically, Gaea's Blessing saved my bacon against the mill player, then my creatures won out in combat.
