I just read John Rizzo's article and was wondering, "Could this be a viable card?"

Empiress Galina Inked and have Nat'l Selection in play, ooooo.

Could this be a good card against "Opposition"?

It's beyound doubt a fun card. However, all the tricks you can pull with it can be done during the upkeep with Apathy, and without a (1) before the activation cost.

I think they issued errata on Apathy specifically to deal with that problem, so Immobilizing Ink isn't just a worse version.

It's probably pretty bad against Opposition for the purposes of untapping creatures, because of the huge card disadvantage inherent in it, so it would probably only be used on opposing creatures. It does that poorly as well.

If you put it on a creature that can be tapped for more than 3UU, you can get copious amounts of mana with Treasure Trove. Of course, the question needs to be asked: Why would you have a creature that could tap for 3UU?
