Whenever you play an artifact spell, draw a card.
0/2

So whats the word on this card? Can a good post Mirrodin Type
II deck be built around it? I've always been drawn to enchantress
type cards and this one is basically an enchatress for artifacts
and Mirrodin is all about artifacts, according to the spoiler.

Thoughts.

Haven't seen the spoiler yet, but I'm sure something at least casual can be done around her/him. Not sure about the tourney scene...

artifact lands combined with Storm Cauldron maybe...all kinds of stuff. He'll be added into my Myr Incubator deck.

I think it works best with the cheap artifacts...

"yeah - 4 moxen of each type is standard for this deck..."

There's a cheezy Type II combo deck here somewhere.

Vedalken Archmage + Ornithopter + Words of Wind

Casual... of course

People, PEOPLE!

Mirrodin is a set full of artifacts, so we have a lot of support for artifact decks. That is the whole ploy summed up.

Try looking at Bloodstar for example:

Bloodstar 8UU
Affinity for Artifacts (this spell costs 1 less to play for each artifact you control)

Flying

Bloodstar's power and toughness are both equal to the number of artifacts you control

You could say that...bring on the combo decks...

People seem to have trouble reading the Archmage properly.

1 - He doesn't work with artifact lands, because he triggers on casting an artifact spell, not on an artifact coming into play.

2 - I liked the Ornithopter / Words of Wind idea, and it can certainly be built, (Especially after mongrel and rootwalla are gone - they kill Words of Wind dead), but again, remember when the card drawing triggers: On an artifact being cast, not on an artifact being resolved. All this means is you'll have to have 2 0cc artifacts before you can go off because they'll have to take turns bouncing, (You "draw" the card, or rather bounce your stuff, while the Ornithopter is still on the stack).

But in the long run, yeah, he's in the same category as Enchantress. He can be good, but he can be fragile and inconsistent too.

I doubt we see combo winter....and if we do Teh Buehler can just use it as an excuse to bring back counters...since he's an unimaginative puss bag.....but then again I'm just slightly opinionated.

Call me optimistic, but while some combos will pop up (it's inevitable), I don't think they'll dominate.

I'm glad I kept my Meltdowns and shatterstorms...

"Oh - Look at that!!! - Meltdown destroys lands now!..."

I doubt if we see anything like combo-winter. I also doubt if the
Archmage combo will be good enough to be anything besides a
fun casual type 2 deck.

The combo, its self.

The 2/2 artifact that cost four to cast, and has infinity for artifacts
can act as an Ornithopter once you have four artifacts out.

The combo needs some way to generate 1 mana also. My guess
would be to use Explanar Lens or the Artifacts that adds G to
your mana pool when you cast a creature spell.

Its just getting silly, I'm no deck-builder so I'll shut up now.

I don't know that we'd see combo winter - but we will see a speedy winter...

I like that Myr Enforcer thing. That 7cc 4/4 with affintiy for artifacts. He can plunk down turn 3 or 4 easy.

And Broodstar is way better than some people think he is.

Exactly - fast games are back...

There's no wait for tog to grow or wake to build up mana...
