Changes to the Banned/Restricted Lists have been made since then.

"This deck was designed by Adam Maysonet, one of the finest players in the country. Adam was one of the great founders of the Rack/Balance decks. His Maysonet Rack Balance deck (MRB) may have been one of the best decks ever designed. Because of the power of Adam's deck and many like it, Balance was restricted to one per deck, and thus the decks are no longer nearly as effective. This particular deck was originally a Balance deck. It has been modified to meet current Type II restrictions.

The Amish deck is peaceful. It, like the people it was named for, will usually win through patience. The deck has no creatures and inflicts no damage whatsoever. This means that all of an opponent's cards that give life or remove creatures are rendered useless.

The deck uses what many tournament players call deck destruction. The objective of this deck is to get the Howling Mines out as soon as possible so you can reach your Island Sanctuaries and Millstones. Once you have gotten to your Island Sanctuaries you can prevent yourself from depleting your deck as quickly as your opponent depletes his. The Millstones just make the process faster. The Island Sanctuary also serves the purpose of maintaining a safe distance from numerous walking creatures. Unfortunately you still have to worry about flying creatures and islandwalkers.

The Counterspells, Disenchants, and Swords to Plowshares act as support cards. Any annoying flying creatures that enter play should be eliminated with Swords to Plowshares or Wrath of God. Your Counterspells should pick up the rest and any direct damage that might come your way. Land destruction decks are somewhat troublesome for this deck. If you face one, the Land Taxes in the sideboard should be added. However, if you are forced to use the Land Tax be careful not to draw unnecessary cards, as they could cost you the game by depleting your deck of the cards you seek to conserve.

Finally, there are a few cards to be very wary of. The first and foremost of these is the Back Vise. If one of these comes out early on, before you are able to counter it, it can be devastating. The second major card threat this deck suffers from is Gloom. If your opponent plays black, you should save a Counterspell for his Gloom. These can really hurt this deck's performance. Hurkyl's Recall and Energy Flux can also cause problems and should be avoided."
