This is taken from Deep Magic by Charles Wolfe and George Baxter, 1996, pp 109-111.

Changes in the Banned/Restricted List have been made since then so if you want to use this as a basis, keep that in mind.

"Granville Wright made perhaps the fastest and most devastating deck ever seen when he put together his explosion deck. It is the ultimate in action-based decks. The creatures it employs are generally very cost-efficient and most of them fly. This means that the majority of them will be difficult to block. Once one got through it would be Giant Growthed, Blood Lusted, and Mutated. Needless to say, the explosion deck's Birds of Paradise could get very nasty.

There was one major problem with the explosion deck - it would fizzle every once in a while. Sometimes you would draw two Unstable Mutations, two Giant Growths, two Tropical Islands, and two Blood Lusts. The explosion deck could probably beat any deck 35% of the time but unfortunately any deck could beat the explosion deck 15% of the time. The only major problems that the explosion deck experiences are a few individual cards. These are Fog, Darkness, Holy Day, and Unsummon. These can often make a Giant Growthed, Blood Lusted, Unstably Mutated, Beserking, 22/22 Scryb Sprite look pretty silly."
