Yeah, I tried to resist, but I knew I'd give in eventually.

    4x Thallid
    4x Thallid Devourer
    4x Thorn Thallid
    4x Feral Thallid
    4x Spore Flower

    4x Fungal Bloom
    4x Doubling Season
    4x Sporogenesis
    4x Giant Growth

    4x Havenwood Battleground
    20x Forest

Any ideas? Suggestions? Questions? Crude, sophomoric mockery? Post here!

I could post a modern Selesnya deck to showcase the current take on token generation, but that probably isn't what you want :)

For this deck I suggest Night Soil. It's so good! It generates additional creatures cheaply and prevents all kinds of graveyard shenanigans. I'd add 3 to 4 of them. Elvish Farmer is also an interesting creature.

Instead of Giant Growth an effect that gives +1/+1 counters might be more interesting with Doubling Season. Battlegrowth doesn't give a big bonus, however, and other cards cost much more mana (Stand Together, Decree of Savagery)

Hope that helps. Good luck with the Fungi.

I'll drop the Growths for the Night Soil. I'm not sure what to cut for the Farmers, though. That leaves me with this:
    4x Thallid
    4x Thallid Devourer
    4x Thorn Thallid
    4x Feral Thallid
    4x Spore Flower

    4x Fungal Bloom
    4x Doubling Season
    4x Sporogenesis
    4x Night Soil

    4x Havenwood Battleground*
    20x Forest

*Just because there's already some FE goodness, I thought it might fit.

drop 2 of the blooms for starters. You will find out that they are pretty expensive to use, and that being said, will not be the target of removal, therefore 2 should be more than enough in the deck. As far as dropping to get to the farmers, since they also make saprolings, you could take out 2 of the Feral Thallids. Remember, with the direction that this is going, you want to concentrate on saprolings, not jumbo thallids. Also, if you can fit it in there, Parrellel Evolutions is really quite wonderful!

i had a deck almost exactly like this... cept no doubling season or sporo..

you need elvish farmers in this to stay alive..
also you might consider something to protect all your thallids bubble matrix maybe?

or something to help them all rock..

    tempters/echoing courage/ thran weaponry.

    4x Thallid
    4x Thallid Devourer
    4x Thorn Thallid
    4x Feral Thallid
    4x Spore Flower
    3x Elvish Farmer

    2x Fungal Bloom
    4x Doubling Season
    3x Sporogenesis
    2x Night Soil
    2x Steely Resolve

    24x Forest

    Seem more workable?

Nightsoil can be very strong. But not always. I think its a matter of taste and metagame.
    Elvish farmer is a must.
As Darthferret said, bloom is very expensive to use. Drop at least 2.
Sporogenesis: Why this? There are better saproling generators. I think Saproling burst and spontaneous generation are better.
Doubling season: I´m not sure that it is very good, since your deck isnt focused on making creatures, but use creatures with other abilities as well.

You might consider playing "things" that slows the game. I have tried 2 different builds with thallids. One being a prison (winter orb+ icy manipulator) build with a combowin (spontaneua generation + fecundity + altar of dementia) and one being a very casual build with freyalises winds and power conduit.

Fecundity is probably strong. Even more if you play elvish farmer and saproling burst.

    4x Thallid
    4x Thallid Devourer
    4x Thorn Thallid
    4x Feral Thallid
    4x Spore Flower
    4x Elvish Farmer

    2x Fungal Bloom
    3x Doubling Season
    3x Fecundity
    2x Night Soil
    2x Steely Resolve

    24x Forest

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

What should I cut for Saproling Burst?
  10. Killerbob Official CPA European Guy

Maybe 2 ferral thallid and 2 steely resolve? The main threat isnt targeted removal, but boardsweepers.
  11. Limited Yes, but we won't care

Besides, the Steely Resolves don't really combo with the Fungul Bloom..

    4x Thallid
    4x Thallid Devourer
    4x Thorn Thallid
    2x Feral Thallid
    4x Spore Flower
    4x Elvish Farmer

    2x Fungal Bloom
    3x Doubling Season
    3x Fecundity
    2x Night Soil
    4x Saproling Burst

    24x Forest

I'll track these down this week and try to get a few games in to test it. It's a lot better than what I started with.
  13. Nightstalkers Creature — Nightstalker

FYI: This deck is hillarious in Chaos
  14. dwarven_anarchist New Member

I have to try that format. I've only got a few more cards till the deck is done.
  15. Nightstalkers Creature — Nightstalker

The thing about the deck is that you want to push out the critters and with chaos both players are hindered and helped by the chaos rolls. Most of of your rolls are actually kinda beneficial to this deck it seems...
  16. Nightstalkers Creature — Nightstalker

    Just an update:
    //NAME: Thallids And Things 2

    4 Elvish Farmer
    4 Spore Flower
    2 Sporesower Thallid
    4 Thorn Thallid
    4 Thallid Devourer
    4 Thallid
  17. Limited Yes, but we won't care

Have you seen the new Thallids in Time Spiral? You might even consider splashing blue for the enchantment that provides people with additional upkeeps.
  18. Nightstalkers Creature — Nightstalker

One color at a time... scary enough to have to splash in a little black just for the sadistic deathspore.

My version uses Skull Catapults with Saprolings as ammo. Call it "Thallid Thooter." :)
  20. train The Wildcard!!!...

I think it would be much more interesting as

    "Runny Greens..."

Just throw in a few Coat of Arms, and watch the opponent try to get out of the way...
