I thought you meant WotC was bringing back alternative-cost buyback spells.
The GameSpy site is not opening for me right now. What's this Stronghold game about? Perhaps more importantly, is it for XBOX?

Stronghold is a "sim" game where you build or defend a castle. You have a number of factors that affect your popularity which determines whether you can keep your peasants/soldiers. Factors include whether they have enough food, so there;s a whole food chain, how much they're taxed, which serves whether you can pay your soldiers, and mining aspects which determines your supply of stone to build or make repairs.
It's not a large scale fight (at least the original wasn't) so it's not like Medieval: Total War, but maybe Stronghold 2 is increasing the number of sprites on the screen.
And it doesn't look like it's for the XBox - just the PC (right now).

Sounds like fun.
My favorite resource-management/world-conquering game was Ghengis Khan 2 (Super NES). I never really got into those types of games on PC, though. I tried out Civilization 3 but I guess my attention span is just too short...
