does anyone have any ideas on how to make a red white deck with a lot of boom and fire and destruction?

His horse was tasty, too.

Okay fine, five years after asking the question, Chris is finally going to get an answer to his question. I hope you're still wathcing this thread, Chris.

Here's a Red/White Type 2 deck I was thinking of running for shorts and goggles.

Wayfarer's Bauble x4
Solemn Simulacrum x4
Guardian Idol x4
Hearth Kami x4
Electrostatic Bolt x4
Magma Jet x4
Wrath of God x4
Arc-Slogger x3
Pulse of the Fields x3
Pristine Angel x2
Blinkmoth Nexus x4
Plains x9
Mountain x11

Sideboard would probably include Land Destruction for more blowings up of things against control decks.

In this fast environment you will ramp up to four mana on turn three pretty consistently and hopefully be able to cast WOG early if you need to. Or you can just enjoy the mana advantage and get ready for Pristine Angel beatdowns.

Pulse = you never die! Hooray!

Hmm, I don't know, Rooser. I don't think it's fair to make it all Standard legal now when back then a lot of those cards weren't in print. We should use cards from back then... :p

You've done it again, Ovvy! This sounds like a fine challenge!

In January of 2000, Type II consisted of the following sets.

Urza's Saga
Urza's Other Thing
Urza's Papersface
Sixth Edition
Mercadian Masques

Let's build a red/white deck using all those cards! Make sure it blows things up!

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
Oh yeah, now I'm in my territory. I remember what was banned back then, I've a hunch that the only banned cards were from Urza's block. It seems likely that the following were banned:

Gaea's Cradle
Memory Jar
Serra's Sanctum
Time Spiral
Tolarian Academy
Voltaic Key
Windfall

The only ones we might have wanted to use were the Sanctum, the Jar, and the Key. It's not a big loss by any means...

Now some particularly nuclear cards are available to work with. It depends how you want to blow things up...

Catastrophe
Wildfire
Disenchant
Rack and Ruin
Aether Flash
Earthquake
Inferno
Powder Keg
Jokulhaups
Shatterstorm
Stone Rain
Tectonic Break
Wake of Destruction
Smokestack
Planar Collapse
Purify
Radiant's Judgement
Crater Hellion
Fault Line
Impending Disaster
Rain of Salt
Wrath of God
Armageddon

There's probably more, but that's all I can think of...

What to use...

Yep, 'cause I'm pro-actively taking Dune Echo's advice and moved it to the Deck Forum :)

haha.

NOW WE'RE IN MY ENVIRONMENT!

I started when mercadian masque's got into print. Funny.

Good red boom spells:
Raze
techtonic break
stone rain
lay waste

good white spells
catastrophe
wrath of god

i'm not too sure of others.

you HAVE TO use the masticore/squee engine!

Some cool cards

Avalanche Riders
Wildfire
Flowstone Hellion (another fun board controller...along with Nasti-core)
Cave-in (might provide some decent control)

So, what route do we want to take with this sucker? What cards are the most "nuclear"?

The Masticore/Squee thing could probably be quite powerful here...

One big question is whether or not to use Wildfire, as decks that use it differ greatly from decks that do not.

Hay guys there's also a nice reprint in 6th edition by the name of PILLAGE

So there is...

I've never seen it in anything but Alliances, oddly enough. Did they keep the awesome flavor text or remove it like morons?

I think it was the same in sixth, but naturally in seventh they had to go and screw it up with crappy art and flavor text. I think that was Seventh edition's theme actually: crappy art and flavor text.

Of course, I only own Alliances copies, duh.

Anyway, I like the idea of Stone Rain + Pillage to harrass them, then Wrath of God for ownage, and then 2 or 3 Catastrophes on top as teh techery. Catastrophe can be another Wog if you're in trouble, or if you're in complete control, creature-wise, you can just armageddon!

All we need are some good utility removal, some good utility weenies, and a few big fat win conditions.

Oh, and we should play with Tariff because it owns.

Tarif + Rukh Egg = Nutsy Fagan

I demand that there be at least 16 Dozen Rukh Eggs in this deck =).

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
Well, there can't be any Rukh Eggs. That sucker is in Antiquities...

Here's a rough decklist (no idea how it runs, haven't tested it) based on what we think would be cool...

Nuke Stuff:

4 Radiant's Dragoons
4 Avalanche Riders
3 Wall of Glare
2 Squee, Goblin Nabob
3 Masticore
2 Impending Disaster
4 Armageddon
2 Catastrophe
4 Wrath of God
4 Pillage
4 Stone Rain
2 Tariff
2 Remote Farm
2 Sandstone Needle
9 Plains
9 Mountain
