New Mechanic: Alliances (unlike the set itself)

Since color schemes work coopertively in Magic, and highly encouraged, why not make cards that work together?

Why not have the U/W, R/G, W/G, and G/B have a bond, linkage, that ties the cards with the colors?

New Mechanic: Alliances

Let's say you have this creature:

White Horsey
WW: 2/1 Creature. First Strike.

Now, factor in the new mechanic


When White Horsey pays "W", target Blue creature, may gain First Strike untill end of turn.

Or,

Bernhard's Disaster
RRR: Do 5 Damage to Target Creature and Target player. You take 10 damage.

Now, factor in the new mechanic.

If you pay "G" when casting this card, then target green instant can be combined into this spell.


Just an idea.

Interesting. I like these ideas.

The White Horsey, looks a lot like some of the cards I remember seeing in Ice Age and Aliances, but no one ever said that was a bad thing.

The Bernhard's Disaster kinda' reminds me of splicing, but it allows more versatility and could really open up some possibilities...
