I'd say Pre-1983 Floyd was still good. "The Final Cut" wasn't a bad album-- but try to find the limited re-relese of it, which features the entire album compressed-- i.e. the really low parts are turned up, and the really loud parts quieted a little bit.
The original manufacture of the CD was simply turned down to avoid digital distortion; thusly, you have to turn it up when you're listening, and then jump out of your skin when he shouts to **** all that, awe's gotta get on with the'se.
As for Sid Barrett, I havn't heard any of the earliest stuff(except Syssiphus), so I really can't say much for him with Pink Floyd... but as for his Madcap Laughs album... err... it leaves somthing to be desired, I think. It just isn't floydian.
How do ya'll like Roger Waters's solo stuff? I thought Pros and Cons of Hichiking was better than any floyd stuff I've heard except for The Wall!!! Eric Clapton+ Roger Waters is... A-Maze-Ing... Too bad Roger is too big of a phallas to get along with...

the other two are somwhat spotty in spots, but Amused To Death is probably the better of the two. Radio K.A.O.S. is different, more like "Roger Waters Hears Kraftwerk And Tried To Copy A Bit Of Them Really Badly"(then again, they wern't too amazing to begin with)...
At one point, Pink Floyd was my favorite band... Until I saw Heavy Metal One's "Bar Scene" and became a follower of
Devolution .
