Chronicles II, should it happen?

Okay, let's not list what people want to see in Chronicles II. Let's talk about what sets it should include, if Type 1 should be supported in it, and if we should voice our opinion to WotC. We can start another thread if people want to vote on what cards should be allowed in the set.

Personally, I would want Chronicles II to be Type 2 legal, however, we need to support Type 1. What's a casual player to do?

I think the cards in it should come from Fallen Empires, Ice Age, Homelands, and Alliances. Also, what size should this set be? 300+? Chronicles was only like 125 or so. And heavily slated towards Legends. Cards should be pulled for interestingness, not power. I don't care for Kjeldoran Outposts again. I just want the fun, CASUAL stuff to come back into Type 2.

So what does everyone think?

Here are my thoughts in no particular order...

* The set should be 125 cards (equal to the last Chronicles).

* It should include the following sets in equal proportions: Fallen Empires, Ice Age, Homelands, and Alliances.

Some thoughts on what needs to be included/excluded..

Fallen Empires:
+ Aeolipile
+ Breeding Pit
+ Ebon Praetor
+ Elvish Farmer
+ Fungal Bloom
+ Initiates of the Ebon Hand
+ Night Soil
+ Spore Flower
+ Thallid
+ Thallid Devourer
+ Thorn Thallid
+ Thrulls: Basal, Armor, Necrite, etc...
+ Thrull Champion
- High Tide (ummm... we're not going through that again)
- Hymn to Tourach (no way)
- Mindstab Thrull (might be too strong)
- Pump Knights (might be too strong)
- Vodalian Knights (might be too strong)

Ice Age:
+ Balduvian Hydra
+ Blinking Spirit
+ Clairvoyance
+ Despotic Scepter
+ Essence Vortex
+ Lhurgoyf
+ Norrit
+ Phantasmal Mount
+ Polar Kraken
+ Seraph
+ Vexing Arcanix
- Ashen Ghoul (no way)
- Demonic Consultation (not gonna happen)
- Necropotence (I'm on crack if I want this)
- Pain Lands (leave alone)
- Pump Knights (again, might be too strong)
- Stormbind (too strong)
- Zuran Orb (too strong)

Homelands:
+ Abbey Gargoyles
+ An-Zerrin Ruins
+ Autumn Willow (might be a little tough)
+ Baron Sengir
+ Sengir Autocrat
+ Serrated Arrows (won't be too bad)
- There really isn't anything to exclude :)

Alliances:
+ Awesome Presence
+ Bestial Fury
+ Carrier Pigeons
+ Deadly Insects
+ Energy Arc
+ False Demise
+ Guerrilla Tactics
+ Inheritance
+ Insidious Bookworms
+ Keeper of Tresserhorn
+ Lord of Tresserhorn
+ Misinformation
+ Phelddagrif
+ Sheltered Valley
+ Taste of Paradise
- Arcane Denial (nope)
- Badluvian Horde (leave alone)
- Browse (no, no, no)
- Diminishing Returns (leave alone)
- Kjedloran Outpost (ummm... no)
- Lake of the Dead (no way)
- Pitch Spells (yeah those were some great mushrooms)
- Thawing Glaciers (not a chance)

Ok, those are a few ideas to get us started. We really need feedback on what would be too strong and too weak. I really don't want to see absolute trash like Aliban's Tower to start showing up on our lists. :)

Well, not like we can stop Browse, considering it's in 6th... :) And so is Sengir Autocrat, no reason to want him back.

Also, is there any particular reason why we can't bring Jester's Cap back? It really wouldn't have a huge impact in todays tourneys, since the enviroment is so damned fast. The only decks it could hurt would be combo, and since when do we complain about that?

And what about Hailstorm? It's fairly well balanced, and would even see play, though probably only in sideboards. And I know I'd use it, so what the hell!

Anyway, just a few ideas.

Thanks for pointing out those 666editioners. We should have a fairly decent idea of what we want from the list, but we need more posts!

I don't think that any card that has already been reprinted should be in Chron's II. White bordered versions of them already exist. I was thinking of some of the wacky gold cards like the colour hosers from Ice Age or the Legends from Alliances.

Any card that has been used prominently in known tourney decks should be left out - let people figure out new cards to break.

There's still lots of good cards that can be reprinted...not all of Homelands sucked :)

"...how about bringing back Jester's MASK?"

Well, as long as we include Phelddagryf and Ebon Praetor I'll be happy!
