Bruning Battlewagon OR How to lose in Type II

There is a small Type 2 tourney coming up in a few weeks at a card store a few towns over from me. I'm entering (which this will be my first T2 affair) but I want to try a deck I've been tossing around in my head.

Saproling Burst / Keldon Battlewagon

A little aggro-combo flavor that I think can work with the Fires of Yavimaya.

The one thing I'm not crazy about is the fact that they both cost 5 mana, not much of a mana curve but I think it has the potential for a quick, surprising kill. AND they can't perish the Battlewagon, or the SapBurst if the Fires is in play

3 Tangle Wire (or a sneaky Vitalize)

Any comments/suggestions/decklists/musings are welcome.

The cursed totem does stop the battle wagon. It has an activated ability.

Cursed Totem stops activated abilities requiring an activation cost. My question is, does tapping a creature to give him power count as an activation cost?

does battlewagon have a colon? If it says:
"Tap a creature: battlewagon gains +x/+0....."
Then it is.

Cool deck mikeymike I would keep the idol, maybe u should put in the red/green split card, i think that i's fairly versitile/cool

...Rupture? That provides a damaging use for the about-to-leave-play Blastoderms and SapBurst token guys, as well as a method to remove blockers from play (and opponents, of course).

It doesn't get flyers, though, so that should be considered.

Just a thought.

Vitalize + rupture.....

Look, you do your thing and battlewagon becomes a 6 power, then you tap it to itslef, and it's a 12. Then you vitalize, and make ia a 18 power monster....

On the card it doesn't have the colon BUT on D'Angelo's rulings it does, so I guess it gets sideboarded out for the Totem.

Rupture would be enormous is here. I can regen the Boa, Chimeric Idols could survive a first main phase one, Blastoderms can clean the house, buy my favorite:

Play Sap Burst, create a 6/6 token, Rupture it, create 3 3/3s or 4 2/2s and attack.

Assault/Battery could be nice too, I just wish that card was: R, deal 2 damage-G: creature gets +2/+2.
