Recently, I have been speaking to Chuck Dennewitz, who owns the store The Magic Obsession, about the CPA. After some email conversations, he has looked over our website and felt that he would be willing to share a domain with us. I've already forwarded the email with the offer to Mike to see what he thinks. However, I cannot make the decision alone as it's not my right and I don't know how everyone else feels. Basically we would be sharing a website with a store in Akron, OH. I've done some business ordering cards from this store and I feel that it is fair and very well priced place with a great reputation.

I also feel that the owner, Chuck is a great person to share a domain with. He plays Magic himself and is an extremely ethical businessman. For instance, he sells cards on Ebay and his Squee cards are going for about $15.00 right now. I had let him know that I was interested in getting some Squees (that's an odd phrase...). He suggested to me to wait before ordering because he felt that Squee is not "a fifteenbucker" and I shouldn't be ripped off.

It seems to me that this might be the opportunity we're looking for. This isn't going to be a larger website we're affiliated with. We'll be sharing it, 50/50. No one to overshadow us, and no one to tell us what we are allowed to write and not write about.

Here's their address if you want to check them out. (Oh, yeah, every uncommon is guaranteed to be only $0.25!)

So how does everyone feel about this offer?

Actually, he already registered for this board. His name is TMOB. And I think this is a better place to discuss these few questions I have.

- What exactly do you mean "share server space"? We've been considering trying to get hosted by CCG News, now that New Wave doesn't want to respond to us. Obviously we wouldn't be able to share server space if we go this route. (Oh yeah, you mentioned you just registered your domain. Well, if we share space, I don't think both of us would be able to use individual domains. Need to contact the provider.)
- What exactly is this "Obsessed Partner" program that Dune (Kirsin) mentioned in his email?

And, I don't know if Dune mentioned it, but we have the domain casualplayers.org reserved.

I hope you can answer these questions and I(we) hope that something can be worked out.

P.S. If it wasn't obvious yet, Dune forwarded your emails to me. He said you were going to give me a hollar.

Mike and everyone: I'm very sure you'll like the Obsessed Partner Program. It pays for itself. Trust me. Check it out.

You know, it would have helped if I had read the website before I asked that question.

I'm a little slow today.

GUYS!!! CHECK THIS OUT!!!! We have a reply from Chuck Dennewitz (TMOB on our boards).

This is the person I've "opened negotiations" with regarding a website domain for us. This is the email he sent to me, word for word. We need to decide as a group on this.

Hello,

Kirsin and I have traded back and forth a few email messages over the last
day or two and he mentioned your group. One thing led to another and here we
are. At this point I will let you all know where we, (as a retailer), stand.
We have been selling cards for 1 year on ebay. In March of this year we
decided to turn our hobby into a business. We sell only Magic cards and play
ourselves, as often as 2-3 times a week. We enjoy the game just as much as
we enjoy selling the cards. 2 months ago we registered the domain name
magic-singles.com. Currently we are hosting our site as a personal home page
on AT&T. Within the next month we are planning to put our site on a
dedicated site server. We have narrowed the choices down to 2 with one being
heavily favored. Both companies offer "Child" level URL support. Both offer
unlimited space and bandwidth and are reputable service providers. When we
register our site with either service, we have the choice to allow "Child"
level access and Domain name URL pointers. We would then upload our pages
and then assign your group a subdirectory off that site. It would be
password protected to your Webmaster so that he would have access to it but
not to our main site. The purpose of the URL pointer is to direct requests
to the appropriate pages. For all practical purposes it would appear that
both were separate sites. The cost to do this is minimal and could be
discussed in further detail later. The main problem for your group might be
Microsoft Front Page. We use Front page and must have the Microsoft Front
page Extensions installed. There fore they would be installed for everything
underneath our URL. Whoever is in charge of your web site should consider
this and could contact me directly to consider all of the options. The best
option would be to publish your site using FrontPage. What we are proposing
in its most raw form is equal advertising. We would be willing to promote
your site, its issues and your concerns in exchange for "equal billing". The
cost to you at first would be free except for any additional fees we may
incur to set up the "child" level access (under $20 I think). IF (unlikely)
traffic increases beyond the sites allowance an additional charge may be
incurred. The limit I believe is 10,000 hits a day. That's a lot of hits.
While we may not be the "BIG" sites you are looking for, we might be able to
put your presence right where you want it to be. In the hands of the casual
player. With summer winding down indoor entertainment increases and card
sales increase. We are running a lot of auctions and a lot of people go to
our site to check out the extra cards. I am sure that there are a lot of
issues and concerns and we are willing to discuss them before we decide on
the site host. Please feel free to email me your questions and concerns. As
for our Obsessed Partner program please check out our site for all of the
details and benefits.

So, what does everybody think here? Mike has been asking the important questions, so get the techy answers from him, okay?

Can we set up a voting booth on this Mike?
