Hey Crackdown, I've searched a card database and the cards I've come up with that could help you the most in a Red/White deck that you haven't put into the deck yet are:

(Extended)
Shield Mate (basically another Iron Will)
Advanced Scout (repeated targeting)
Dwarven Warriors/Nomads (make Task Force unblockable, Power Matrix is just better though)
Angelic Blessing (+3/+3 and flying isn't bad)
Angelic Protector (alternate version of Task Force)
Dwarven Thaumaturgist (Reusable About Face)

(Standard)
Hope and Glory (combo with Infantry Veteran and/or Mother of Runes)
Ghitu War Cry (repeated targetting)
Defender en-Vec (repeated targetting for big last rush)

En-Kor are good, but the Dracoplasm is Blue/Red. About Face, Dwarven Thaumaturgist, Angelic Protector, and Task Force are White/Red.

Crackdown, I understand your desire to use your Mercadian Masques cards, isn't Seasoned Marshall a little bit better than Cho-Arrim Bruiser? It's cheaper by 2, meaning you get it out 2 turns earlier. And you can pull the Iron Will/About Face trick on them even though it's not as good as Task Force.

Dune, I was just trying to keep the deck T2. It's for my son to play with at an upcoming JSS (he's 10) and he likes Cho-Arrim Bruiser. Besides, I wanted at least three different ways to win in case the About Face wasn't going to come off. Thus we have the Blinding Angel and Cho-Arrim Bruiser (with his tap 2 ability coupled with a parallax wave).

I am leaning towards including the Sowing Salt in the deck, but maybe that's really a SB issue. Kor Haven and Ports concern me with this deck. Thoughts?

Ya I saw someone abuse this card big time he was playing Black/White..
plays a task force i say "oh, darn"
he puts a holy armor on him making him a 1/8 at the time so he gets +0/+4 for ONE white

serra's embrace and attacks

ok sooo i take 3? NO

he pumps 5 white into hime making him a
3/27 and bam! transmutation...i take 27, end of story
this card can be sooo abused...

I realy like your deck. It looks like a lot of fun. I have a couple of suggestions( Weak as they may be). Iron Will is the better choice, but maybe You could put in a couple of Hero's Resolve in addition. To increase your chances of getting the enchantments you want, Put in some Enlightened tutors.

the dream play,

Enchant Task Force with Heros Resolve X2 cost 2WW
Task force is now 3/19
Declare attack
If they declare a blocker
Tap Mother targeting Task force.
Task force is now 3/22, and can't be blocked.
target Task Force with About Face.
Task Force is now 25/3, and unblockable.
Game Over.
All for 2WWR. If you use Iron Will only WWR For a 21/1.

I would love to pull something like that off just one time.

Lands don't seem Quite Right do they. I just thought Crenellated Wall, Defender En-Vec, And Ghitu War Cry would fit in this deck real well. I actualy like this idea alot so thats why I posted. I want to keep it going, and see what other ideas are out there.

Update:

This deck has provided the most fun of any deck I have ever played, especially against green players.

Has anyone else been playing it and with what results?

I don't like the second one as much because it hinges on Task Force being in play WAY too much. The first one is based on Task Force being the most efficient, but it let's all the creatures be the possiblity of the killing blow.

A lot was said soooo...

Sever soul is a bad idea, using swords to plowshares or worthy cause is the best way to eat a task force for life.

Second, daru spiritualist only costs 1W for the same effect as task force.

Enkors work, but a quick way to do things is run lightning greaves.

I'd keep it Red White. You have a few options.

If you run Rupture, you should also run mogg maniac, so youll only have to do half the damage to kill your opponent instead of making the game a draw, otherwise just use flings instead.

Using Dwarven Nomads/Dwarven Warriors doesn't work, i used a bloodboiler dwarf deck based on this premise. Theyre too fragile and the 3cc isnt worth it at all.

Think of it as waiting 2 full turns and paying 3 mana for a card that:
any red deck could kill
any black deck could kill
and any blue deck could counter.
In the two turns you waited, green probably made you chump block with him or end up dead.

Ghitu war cry is a good path to take, as is Veteran's voice with a brassman serving as an alternate path to victory.


for say... 4 mana.. with a task force out and a brassman with a veterans voice on him. give your daru spiritualist

+8/+4 each turn... but thats assuming it didnt have a targeting ability... making a daru spiritualist


1/1 (+0/+2 each time) triggered 4 times..
giving this cleric +8/+12 until end of turn.

1/3 (+0/+3 each time)
Giving this rebel +8/+16

this way you could pound them regardless...

wanna be really cheesy... run ornithopters...

T1: Mountain, Brassman, Ornithopter
T2: Mountain, Veteran's voice attack for 2
T3: Mountain, Tap Brass for +2, untap, tap for 2, untap, tap for 2, attack with a 6/4 ornithopter.
T4: use brass and thopter to attack with a 8/5 Ornithopter

thats assuming nothing else happens.

Equal land cause red is just as important as white.


heres how a typical game goes..
I chose the defensive route before offensive given the circumstances for the 2nd game.

turn 1 plains, brass man'
turn 2 mountain, lit greaves'
Turn 3 :draw 3rd land (plains), Plains, play daru spiritualist, equip with greaves, 1 red untapped..

you have a swords for infinite life..

but if it was about face.. you could attack for the game



Turn 1, plains, ornithopter'
Turn 2, plains ornithopter, light greaves (before i play the spiritualist in my hand)
turn 3.. Cast spiritualist equip with greaves

turn 4 swords the spiritualist for infinite life to buy some time.

turn 5, task force, greaves on force'

turn 6 wait' (searching for mountain)
turn 7 wait, (waiting for mountain)
turn 8 Mountain lit greaves on task force 1,000000 times cast about face.' Attack for 10 billion.

also dont spring this on a 9 year old... he'll quit magic instantly once he knows ridiculous plays like this exist.

best thing about this deck is you can kill or get infinite life in a single turn if you hold cards.

Tireless tribe is very nice vs one opponent (you will lose all your cards to defend yourself against others) unless you use a lot of flashback & madness spells.

Turn 1: plains, tireless tribe
Turn 2: mountain, attack, discard 4 cards, cast about face: 21/1 creature.

Fast and, yes, very risky.


There is some equipment that works great with the whole tougness to power idea: slagwurm armor gives a creature +0/+6 and Ensouled Scimitar gives +1/+5 or becomes a 1/5 flying creature.


I had a deck with dwarven thaumathurgist, about face, spikeshot goblin (why attack? :cool:) and those pieces of equipment.

attacking with ensouled scimitar equiped with a slagworm armor and casting about face is a nice effect too (11/1 flying, hehe).

hmm ok. A tireless would be cool.. it would basically either kill early, or youd have 1/19 def blockers till you got ur kill..

I think you really need a way to redraw more cards.. You could use serum powder, but if its not turn 1 or 2, its kinda useless past then.. so im thinking you could do Red White Blue, or just Red White
