Why Troublesome Spirit over Air Elemental?

Is Gush necessary?

The reason: Trublesome Spirit cost less than Air Elemental
And Gush helpes you get Islands to Foil and to gain card advantage.

4 mana is a lot less than 5 :)

Gush is card drawing (DUH!), smoothes out your mana (e.g. when you stall at 3 islands, you can tap 2 for blue return 2 to your hand and replay one) and finally has amazing synergy with Foil and Rising Waters from sideboard

The thing is, you doln`t want to be casting your monster turn 5 , you want to be casting it turn 4. It`s simple Maths, an Air Elemental has to swing for 4 for four turns to overcome the damage advantage that the Troublesome has by coming down a turn earlier and so getting another attack. By that time the game is over.
Add in that the deck want`s to be able to suck up it`s Islands to Gush ASAP and the Air Elemental is plain inferior. Extravagant Spirit can be added, but has no synergy with Gush or Thwart, you`d maybe add Elementals for the mirror, but I doubt it.

Gush is the real reason that SKies is very good, as it`s pure card advantage and fuels all your ACC spells (although you really need to choose if you prefer Gush or Thwart, as they kind of work at cross purposes to each other - run 4 of one, 2 of the other).

Ok then, how does this look?
If I play in a Tourney, Skies will be the cheapest for Me to build I already have most of the cards.

4 Troublesome Spirit
4 Spiketail Hatchling
4 Rishadan Airship

4 Chimeric Idol
3 Sky Diamond

4 Wash Out
4 Gush
4 Accumulated Knowledge (or should I use FoF, Brian Storm or Opt)?
4 Foil
2 Thwart
3 Daze

20 Island

I going to need a sideboard also.

I'm probably going to need Submerge, Maybe Rising Waters, and possibly Air Elemental, Chill?

you should use Opt instead of Acc. Knowledge, it's too slow in sucha deck.

My sideboard suggestions(keep in mind I suck at sideboarding):
3 Rising Waters
3 Submerge
2 Withdraw
3 Chill
3 Misdirection

This is my personal Skies list - very similar to your own there.

4 Spiketail Hatchling
4 Rishadan Airship
4 Chimeric Idol
4 Troublesome Spirit

4 Brainstorm
4 Opt
2 Daze
2 Thwart
4 Foil
3 Wash out
4 Gush

20 Islands
(59 cards)
The last slot is currently in Schroedingers Uncertainty Paradox. It is at the same time both all of, and none of, the following cards:
Wash Out, Daze, Thwart, Withdraw, Boomerang, Rushing River, Alexi Zephyr Mage.

SB:
4 Rising Waters
2 Daze
3 Prodigal Sorceror (mirrormatch beatings)
4 Withdraw
1 Wash Out
2 Submerge
(16 cards)
This is because usually one of them ends up as card 60 in the maindeck

This is my current Skies deck (winning every Fires deck in town)

4x Troublesome Spirit
4x Spiketail Hatchling (little Spikey)
4x Rishadan Airship
4x Chimeric Idol

4x Accumulated Knowledge
4x Opt
4x Daze
4x Thwart
3x Foil
2x Wash out
2x Gush

1x Rath's Edge (see my opponent's Rishadan Airships crashing, I love this card)
20x Islands

Sideboard
4x Rising Waters
2x Teferi's Response
3x Submerge
3x Chill
4x Waterfront Bouncer

The deck works... I have been using it for 2 months now

I noticed neither one of Your decks have Sky Diamond's, are they not worth while?

Could Storm Cauldron (have 2 Cauldron and 2 water) be an adequate replacement for Rising Waters, or should I just get the waters?

Has anyone played, or considered Essence Leak SB against Fires? Is it any good?

Do You think it would be any good to splash a little red (Earth Quake)? Maybe instead of Sky Diamonds, Fire Diamonds?

For me it was a choice between Daze and Diamond. The original argument I heard against Daze was that it retarded your mana, you tapped to play the Diamond, then Dazed and were still on 3 mana. Now my second turn is eithre drop a Hatchling, or hold to Daze, in either case I am ready with countermagic for that dreaded Meddling Mage 'Wash out'.

I don`t see the point in Diamonds in a deck that curves so nicely, personally. And we get away with running fewer mana sources by playing the extra draw spells to see our cards differently. I`m not sure my version is 'better' - the loss of mana producers makes me worse vs Ports, but I don`t think that`s a key threat at the moment, and I`m more worried about draw consistency so I play with Opts (Acc Knowledge sounds very poor).

You really need Waters.

Rising Waters main can surprise some decks :)

I recommend the use of Sky Diamonds instead of the Eye because it fits the Skies mana curve better.

Well here s my personal skies deck( i can say i made it by myself):
4x troblesome spirit
4x rishadan airship
4x chimeric idol
4x spiketail hatchling
4x thwart
4x foil
4x brainstorm
3x gush
4x sky diamond
4x wash out
3x rushing river

19x islands

Well i think gush is really necessary,so are thwart and foil too.Countering is better than returning permanent to owner's hand!!Wash out is very very important since on 4th turn u can return either fires and birds/or other creatures like blasto and ur opponent will need much time to replay all his hand(and now u' ll ur counters ready), so u can beat him by troblesome and ship.If u can play wash out,and the following turn rushing river/or wash out again by gush/brainstorm he will be down easily!!

What do You think about this version?
Not as good as straight up Skies?
Or just a totally bad idea?

2 Air Elemental
4 Prodigal Sorcerer/Stinging Barrier?
3 Glacial Wall
3 Chimeric Idol

4 Sky Diamond/Eye of Ramos?

4 Gush
4 Foil
4 Daze
2 Thwart

1 Wash out

4 Opt
4 Brainstorm

20 Island
1 Raths Edge

Griffith you could change that deck you submitted into a really good Rising Waters deck... maybe taking out the Chimeric Idols... and you got too many walls

At the moment I'm trying a skies deck with a tweak. It is performing quite good against fires and rebels, especially after sideboard (about 70% win rate).

Creatures:

4 Spiketail hatchling
4 Troublesome spirits
4 Chimeric idol
2 Air elemental
2 Glacial walls

Spells:

3 Washout
3 Thwart
3 Foil
2 Counterspells
4 Daze
4 Gush
2 Tsabo's Web
1 Tsabo's Decree
1 Fact or Fiction

Land:

1 Swamp
4 Underground river
16 Islands

Sideboard:

4 Perish
3 Decree
3 Gainsay
2 Cremate
3 Boomerang ?

Not perfect of course. But a start to a metagame tweaked Skies deck.

Does it suffer from the lack of card drawing power?
How about mana, do You find Yourself short of mana?
